Quite a while ago, I made this track. This is a deep and mellow track, made for the autumn to watch the leaves fall.
It coming out on Kina Music's Frames compilation, which was born with the aim to provide a journey through our vision of dub, dark, organic techno.

This is one of the tracks to come out of the lengthy sessions for my new album "The Air Between Words" (coming out on 3024 soon). I am putting it up on Bandcamp and have you decide what you would like to pay for it. All proceeds minus fees will go to a really inspiring initiative called the Holistic Life Foundation. This small grass roots organization from West Baltimore helps kids develop their inner lives through yoga, mindfulness, and self-care. The Ping Report 2025 is built almost entirely from community-sourced selections and productions, drawn from the MD Discord and beyond.

If you know my discography, this mix sits alongside Shared Meanings, Twists and Turns, Pinch B2B Mumdance and FabricLive 80.

Ping isn’t a genre. It's an approach to anchoring and propelling sound without relying on the steady pulse of a kick drum, instead using a “ping”  as a temporal scaffold 

A lot of the early Different Circles tracks had ping sounds running through them. When I played them on the radio, the Discord chat would often react with a meme of Momotaros, a Japanese devil character.

Over time, I started playing more pingy tracks just to trigger the meme. In 2023, I broadcast a moodboard show called The Ping Report, and from there, producers began sending in purpose-made ping tracks. That eventually led to the Ping Volume One compilation.

This 2025 Report is the ping sound evolved, shaped through two years of incubation and dialogue between a community of artists and listeners.

Thank you to everyone involved, especially the Discord crew. It’s been a joy to watch this grow so organically from a single meme. 😂

Zlata is a sound artist and DJ based in Graz. In her practice she explores eerie, extreme sound environments and textures and incorporates those experiments in her dj sets too. They can best be described as a tightrope walk between moods, styles and rhythms. Zlata manages to combine dark noise, evocative soundscapes and rhythmic patterns to guide the floor in a flow of sound. She is a founding member of CMKK (Computermusik & Klangkunst) - a student community that organizes concerts of experimental electronic music and sound art in Graz.
