With over 20 years of experience as a DJ and producer, Serum’s understanding of the history of D&B shines through in everything he does.  A string of bona-fide anthems have seen Serum’s music grace labels as diverse as V Recordings, Shogun Audio, Playaz, Critical, Philly Blunt and Creative Source.

Serum says of his debut release on Doc Scott's 31 label ‘Both Species & Blood Red are quite inspired by the original Virus releases. I wanted to make something with a harder edge and modern production but without losing the grit or the groove. I sampled a lot of experimental electronic music from the 60s and 70s and used vintage style hardware to bring out the right character in the sounds’.

Om Unit says of this release 'For me it's another milestone as a DNB fan.. Being allowed to come back to 31 again with another shadow boxing version, being one of only a tiny handful of people being allowed to remix this classic truly is an honour, let alone twice! Also working with Thing on "something ancient" was a real blessing not only because he's original and convincing with his own work but also I think he's like me, he does his own thing without adhering to too many of the insular rules that have made dnb such a closed room over the years, and so creating this cinematic piece just happened naturally and I really love the results.

All Four tracks will be released as limited edition vinyl double pack pressed on transparent Green & Blue Vinyl. The VIP mix of Species, is a deadly combination of both Serums original mix of Species and Blood Red, creating a monster of a VIP. The Doc Scott inspired track Redeemer, has the spirit of Doc Scott’s early productions, combined with Serum’s modern production but without losing that old school grit or the groove.
