A wandering poet and ascetic Zen priest, Santōka was a disciple of Ogiwara Seisensui, one of the first poets to discard the traditional use of the 5-7-5 structure in haiku.

Santōka’s poetry emphasizes the necessity of sabi (solitude) in order to achieve spiritual enlightenment and serenity.

Hello, this is a composition of some water recordings that I did earlier this year. They came in well for this haiku !

The water recordings begin calmly, then become more intense, but then breathing becomes almost like the water, the same movement. Deeply, profoundly, the air gets surrounded by deep water. As if meditation transforms the lungs of thos of an ancient dragon.

This track was inspired by this week's Disquiet Junto project, which was to create a drone with a melody well hidden in the soundscape. I composed a drone - as in last week's track - based on sounds I created for another endeavour, and hid a slow, soothing melody within the soundscape.
