Collectedly on its way to its fifth anniversary, the Bamboo Shows guestmix series changes design today!
As we started writing short stories along with the mixes, we felt that it had also become necessary to illustrate them and free ourselves from the awesome artworks Johann Bonnefoy made for us back in 2019.

So, here we start with our 71st guestmix and Seoul-based Salamanda, composed of Uman Therma (Sala) & Yetsuby (Manda). Pretty well known from the leftfield ambient scene thanks to various self-releases and appearances on Good Morning Tapes, Sounds of Ogigia, Public Possession, the Korean-duo also contributed to our Vapordub compilation earlier this year with the wondrous and aptly named ‘Bubble Bamboo Princess’. 

Through this peaceful ballad in the whimsical land of Quitonia, Salamanda delivers the message that every sound has beauty. Whether ancient or newly published, traditional or uncanny, epic or calm. A blissful quest delving into neo-classical acts, spiritual ambient, otherworldly new-age and psychedelia. Keep your senses alert all through the ride, for there is so much to feel, hear and see.

GuduMix 007: Salamanda

This month we’re welcoming the Seoul-based electronic music duo Salamanda (@8salamanda8), composed of Uman Therma (known as Sala) and Yetsuby (known as Manda). The pair met in 2018 through a friend, bonding over a love of contemporary classical and experimental music. Salamanda have been enchanting listeners since 2019 with their debut album “Our Lair”. They released their dreamy fourth LP “ashbalkum” last June, on New York City’s @humanpitch label. The album explores the relationship between reality and dreams.

For Carhartt WIP Radio Salamanda created a mix, that features a selection of released and unreleased tracks, as well as alternative versions of older compositions and some live show recordings. In addition to this, the duo will feature in the upcoming issue of WIP magazine, in an interview discussing their eclectic use of sounds, their collaborative relationship, and the underground music scene in Seoul. The interview will be available to read online following the launch of the issue on November 17th. Enjoy.

This is probably the most personal creation i have ever made
passing through significant gateways of life and death
weaved through one another with great forces 
two weeks ago, while i turned 35 weeks pregnant with my second child, my beloved mother passed away at 67 years old . 
gracfully returning her soul to source and her body to mother earth , we walked her in this transition to the next phase of her existence. 
while this new life coming very soon is pulsing inside me initiating me to my next evolution journey. 
this creation is a part of my process and i dedicate it to this very special and meaningful time of my life.
hope this soundtrack will support you on your journey with grace and connection to spirit. 
with deep intentions of healing and acceptance of any kind of change we are going through our personal and collective experiences .

Not by our own volition, life has forced us all to slow down a little this year. This change of pace is something that Blue Divers — the NSW-based instrumental group helmed by Alec Marshall — have whole-heartedly embraced on their debut LP as part of Bedroom Suck Records’ Private Eyes releases, the first in an on-going series of isolation recordings by various Australian artists.

Their sound — soothing, unhurried and spacious — and first track to be released from the album, doesn't demand your attention; with gentle, feather-light guitar and barely-there touches of piano, pressing play is more like wandering into a daydream. Marshall is happy to move at his own leisurely pace, employing a delicate flurry of chimes and textures over the track’s concise two and a half minutes, and imbuing the track with its own serene sense of time and spaciousness. Similar to fellow Australian artists Matthew Hayes and Low Flung, Marshall proves himself to be an expert in knowing how to fill space, and ‘Wholly’ is music of contended solitude that speaks loudest in its calmest moments. It’s warm, uplifting and thoughtful — emotions all of us have been striving for over the last few months but not necessarily feeling. It sounds like Marshall dreamed up a very specific mood and figured out how to make it real.

‘Wholly’ is out October 8th via Bedroom Suck Records. The Blue Divers LP will be released October 16th and includes a limited edition vinyl pressing of 150 copies — you can pre-order on Bandcamp.
