Doctrine EP - FRM01 is the debut 12” by newcomer producer 393AD for the maiden release of cooperative Amsterdam/ Rotterdam label Full Range Motion. Over the course of three layered techno cuts, 393AD presents a no-nonsense, yet playful approach to slowly-evolving layered techno. 393AD draws inspiration from minimal visual arts, DIY culture, repeated dance floor adventures and the repetitive grind of everyday life to present his vision on techno. Based on long hardware jams followed by extended in-the-box production methods, 393AD crafts introspective, locked-in-place, surrealist techno. While all tracks vary in intensity, 393AD’s concept for ‘Doctrine EP’ is a clear one: explorative techno with a hint of mystery and curiosity to keep you moving. 

	A1: ‘Teachings’ is the most high-paced track of this debut release and potentially its strongest club track. A staggering yet addictive groove provides the foundation for swirling, pressurising chords that are eager to escape the groove that holds them.
	B1: ‘Positions’ takes this EP into even deeper waters, with harmonic stabs shimmering over a frantic groove, pushing and pulling on the listener.
	B2: ‘Instructions’ showcases 393AD knack for building and deconstructing tension. Alarmist, percussive sound-design elements sprinkled over a propulsive drumbeat give this track a close-to-edge feeling.

393AD returns to his own Full Range Motion Records with ‘Singularities EP’!
On this EP, 393AD continues to explore the grey-area in between introspective yet driving techno, an area in which 393AD’s well-received debut ‘Doctrine EP’ left such an impression. The Amsterdam-based artist playful use of sound-design and storytelling adaptations of live hardware jams are once more an excellent foundation for his second release, solidifying the distinctive sound of the artist on this young label.

Opener ‘Gravitational’ pulsating beats are a strong anchor for slowly unfolding harmonic stabs and a strong centrifugal energy. Glimmering patterns unfold as an umbrella; a projectile shoots past; the aftermath of a near-collision - there’s no running from this mind-gazing adventure.

On the same side ‘Technological’ pushes on with dramatic effect as noise interlocks with serenity. A devious and mesmerising track.

The flip starts off with ‘Mechanical’, the final clever contribution to this EP by 393AD. Propulsive kicks and startling low-end call & responses manifest infectious hooks and rhythmic interplay. This track is as serious as it is facetious.

Finalising this EP is Maasym’s remix of ‘Gravitational’. Building on the urgent dynamics of the original, Maasym conjures a magical field of rhythm, intertwining the original with his own energetic pulses. Culminating finally in a compelling resurgence of the original’s main stab.
