3ddancer offer a glimpse into their long freeform dance music performances with a selection of pieces taken from live shows over the last two years. Composed of Alex the Fairy, Rachel Lyn & Volruptus, each with their own varying backgrounds, the trio verge on conjoining when operating their electronic instruments during performances, providing an eclectic mix of musical styles spanning electro, techno, acid, industrial, gabber, ebm, hardcore and beyond. This is reflected in the broad spectrum of material on the record.

3Ddancer shows are always unique moments, never to recur. The recordings stem from the groups live performances at various venues, including their multiple appearances for Modular Gang at the Oscillate parties.

The tracks, in true 3Ddancer spirit, are an uncompromising, unrefined expression of the three interwoven minds; rough, rugged and raw. And yet out of the chaos: a record emerges - hence, a ‘great fucking success’.

Following his debut contribution to the label’s catalogue this year via the Midnight Shift x Voitax „Mothership” compilation, (a contribution saw the artist paired with Veronica Maximova) the Brighton based producer L/F/D/M, also known as Richard Smith, is the latest to join the catalogue on Voitax. Having pushed the boundaries of his own music, Smith managed to release an impressive amount of records throughout the last years and has perpetuated his sound on cult labels such as Cititrax, Midnight Shift, Optimo Trax, Ecstatic and Clan Destine Records.

The British producer now returns to Voitax with his »Mutual Autopsy« EP - a strong four-tracker that is characterised by Smith’s undenably grainy lo-fi signature. The whole package is armed with heavyweight kicks, bloating basslines and crunchy, percussive patterns, that he perfectly crowns with some memorable and catchy synth lines. The former art student, as well as one half of Bronze Teeth, shows once again his ability to modulate his way into the abstract, while keeping it groovy and warm and firmly secures himself in the ranks with the techno avant-garde.

2020 was definitely a sad year for club culture, but it reminded us of the importance of sharing in our communities, especially in the times to come. So, what better way to start 2021 than inviting a bunch of talented crafters around the anvil? We’re thrilled to unveil the fourth volume of the ‘Crysta Ampullaris’ series: an eclectic blend of works by friends, artists we love and – as usual – La Forge’s core producer unit.
More ambitious, this extended compilation brings together 13 tracks from top-tier French producers, Saint-James, Scarlet, Aval Douar, Atomic Moog, Vina Konda, JKS and Raven, as well as Swiss army knife Hermeth, alongside regular blacksmiths Shonen Bat, Nigm, Ayuji, Slowglide and Lebird. It results in a wide-ranging and emotionally charged patchwork of highly energetic breakbeats, electro and techno bangers, deep introspective explorations and futuristic sonic oddities. Like a hopeful prayer for our beloved dancefloors to re-open soon.

Alors, comment mieux entamer 2021 qu’en invitant une bande d’artisans talentueux autour de l’enclume ? Nous sommes ravis de dévoiler le quatrième volet de la série « Crysta Ampullaris » : un mélange éclectique de compositions d’amis, d’artistes que nous aimons et – comme d’habitude – du noyau de producteurs de notre escouade. Cette compilation, plus audacieuse et plus longue, rassemble 13 titres d’artistes français de haut niveau tels que Saint-James, Scarlet, Aval Douar, Atomic Moog, Vina Konda, JKS et Raven, du couteau suisse Hermeth, ainsi que de nos forgerons habituels Shonen Bat, Nigm, Ayuji, Slowglide et Lebird. S’en résulte un patchwork riche et chargé d’émotions, composé de breakbeats énergiques, de bangers électro et techno, de profonds voyages introspectifs et de curiosités futuristes... Comme une prière pleine d’espoir pour la réouverture prochaine de nos dancefloors tant aimés !

3Ddancer (a trio composed of Alex the Fairy, Rachel Lyn & Volruptus) perform live as an improvised freeform act akin to an electronic free jazz band, who are equipped with an array of electronic instruments. The 3 artists bring their unique styles together to form a new vision of harder, faster, experimental dance music: rhythm heavy and drenched in emotive and visceral musical forms. Their unique individual projects already being strongly defined and established provide a powerful foundation which multiplies and combines the trio to form a truly powerful combination of flavours, an experience like no other. The project cuts its teeth closing the renowned Modular Gang/Oscillate parties, culminating in a debut live album (“great fucking success”) released in late 2019. From there they went on to play for 8 hours in Säule (Berghain) for CTM Festival followed by a quick dash to Mutabor in Moscow before lockdown. Resurfacing for recent closings at Mjut and Hard Trade/Funkhaus, 3Ddancer has proven to be a truly living, breathing entity in its own right that continues to grow and reinterpret itself.
