Billenkoek Vol. 1 is the saucy opening chapter of Dutch imprint Booty School — indisputably solidifying the label’s distinctive lush, vibrant, and playful sound.

“Billenkoek” is a Dutch term that can be loosely translated as “bumcake,” but a more accurate translation would be “spanking.” In this case, it refers not so much to the punishment, but rather to a playful interpretation of it — the album functioning as a sonic spanking.

About the track:
I started this track when living in Denver last year. Most of my sound has been informed by my roots in Florida and the connection it has to breaks and Electro. After being away from Miami for some time I felt a deep need to create something that would feel at home in the spaces I used to DJ in. So the song is kind of a reaction to being in a new place that was a lot more relaxed but also feeling homesick for the chaos of Florida. The vocal sample comes from an old reggae track which was normal to hear in my house growing up. The song is meant to have a deep and dark feeling but still put you on edge and wake you up a bit, which I think is whats it feels like to walk around in Miami sometimes, especially at night, you never know whats going to go down.

Seven days. Seven tracks. One window.

During a solitary week of pandemic confinement, while relying on an Eurorack as his main tool
and accompanied only by his cat Bondades, Erótica Castro imagined a dialectical testimony of
a time that seemed suspended. Although the window of his home served as the only contact
with the outside, it also became horizon, escape, and memory — a symbol of what was
awaited, of what had yet to arrive, or of what might already have passed. More a retreat than
an isolation, the week unfolded as sounds emerged from a field of silence, and as silence
turned into noise, the noise itself transformed into seven distinct orders, each of which marked
a different stage in both musical creation and personal experience.

‘Una semana’ presents a spectrum of emotional and creative states: while some days pulse
with glitchy rhythms, others lean toward atmospheric contemplation, and still others carry the
weight of frenetic desire. All of them intertwine influences and moods that evoke techno,
electro, and experimental ambient. Now, years after those recordings, Erótica Castro revisits
them, and although the encounter adds new durations and perspectives that might seem to
belong to someone else, they ultimately return to the same self, closing the cycle of a solitary
yet transformative moment.

I started my journey digging through records spinning at parties and raves around my hometown. Eventually, I delved deeper into music production, drawing inspiration from my earliest video game and TV soundtrack memory, blending 90s and 2000s vibes with modern influences to create tracks, edits and remixes of sound I like.
With a mostly drummer's background, my sound is defined by acid influences, old-school sampling, and aggressive drum patterns. DJ sets span across multiple genres, from Techno and House to Industrial, Minimal, and for sure Electro.
