This playlist is a collection of every set that I could find that was played at Afrikaburn 2023. This year became all about connecting with the dancing for me - So shout out to all the DJs, theme camps, sound rigs and wide-smiling fellow dancers.

To make it easier to find your favourite set, I have ordered the Playlist alphabetically by VENUE - (B)boombox, (S)pace Cowboys, (O)asis etc. - and then within that by date and time (where it was given) It's not perfect, but hopefully, it will make it a bit easier to find the set you are looking for.

Want to find that Seth Schwarz set that you loved at Ubuhlanti? - Go down to “U” for Ubuhlanti

Had an amazing night at Mirage and now you want to play that Faffa set 76 times in a row to help get you through the winter?  - Go to “M” for Mirage

Kissed someone in the middle of the Binnekring at 2 am at The Flying Dutchman and want the track to remember them? - Go to “F” for Flying Dutchman
Lost yourself for two hours dancing under the stars next to a mycelium tree while Zsa Zsa played on the Dung Beetle with glowing wings? - Go down to “D” for Dung Beetle

The Playlist starts with “Backstage” and ends ¾ of the way down at “Why Not”
After that the last 25% of the Playlist is a mix of all the tracks I found without obvious locations or venues - these are listed alphabetically by the artist, or whoever posted them.

AfrikaBurn 2023 - All The Sets - by Venue/Date/Time

You might be home, but the music remains.

There is something universal about music, buried deep in our primal DNA. This means that your favourite set can help you to remember the dust, the people, the connections and the love. Someone’s eyes smiling into yours as you dance.

This playlist is a growing collection of all the sets I can find that were played at Afrikaburn 2024 as they are released by the artists over the next few weeks. 

Be patient, and keep checking back, last year it took 2 or 3 months for the sets all to be released.

To make it easier to find your favourite set, I have ordered this Playlist alphabetically by CAMP/VENUE/SOUND-RIG - (D)ung Beetle, (M)ad Hatters, (O)o-aa-sies, (S)pace Cowboys, (U)buhlanti, (W)hy Not, etc- and then by date and time (where it is given)

Try to remember where you heard it and then look from there.
Some artists use different references. So it could be under (R)hino or (L)oki. 

About ¾ of the way down the list, after (W)hy Not, I have grouped all the sets that didn’t show a venue, alphabetically by artist name.

It's not perfect, but hopefully, it will make it easier to find the set you are looking for.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, you are welcome to DM me and I will see if I can track it down through my small network of DJs and artists.

AfrikaBurn 2024 - All The Sets - by Venue/Date/Time

In an attempt to celebrate one of the most spectacular sunsets one can bear witness to -- the one over the Binnekring, in the Tankwa Karoo, that is -- I dug up 17 tracks and strung them together, shortly after the Ba(c)kstage truck had her maiden voyage across the dust. 

In the concoction of songs you'll find some funk, some house, some indie electronic, some remixes, a few warmer chords to pull at the heart strings and just a dash of Robbie Williams.

Sunset over the Tankwa | BA(C)KSTAGE at AfrikaBurn | 26 April 2023

Wow, this was such a gift: a big and amazing crowd gathered on Thursday afternoon in front of The Boombox at AfrikaBurn while the sun started setting. Thank you so much to the people that were there and thank you to Press Play Camp for letting me take the stage. I literally cried at one point when I played one of my own tracks, feeling very fortunate to be in this privileged position.

Afrika Burn 2023: Ed Noodle live @ The Boombox (Thursday afternoon)

This year, while navigating change and the dissolution of my once concrete understanding of reality, I’ve found myself naturally anchored to the sacred, ritualistic aspects of the morning. Journalling, movement, and meditation have undoubtedly kept me from blowing away amidst the storm. 

It is such a universally acknowledged truth that the morning is a time of virtue, expansion, consciousness, and clarity that we barely bother to question it. 

But what of the night? 

Last week, as I lay on the dusty Karoo, staring out into the infinite expanse of stars, I realised that she has just as much to teach us.

She beckons us to surrender our self-awareness in the depths of her embrace, to become one amongst a crowd, safe under the cloak of her darkness. She invites us to revel and relax in the unknown, to lose ourselves in chaos and confusion, to dance and become entranced. In her infinite space, we are able to abandon all conscious thought and premeditation. She shows us a different path to clarity — if only we would welcome her in.

For the night is also sacred.

A year after being inspired by the magical atmosphere on the Binnekring, I returned to AfrikaBurn and performed my first DJ set. Having prepared and supplied all the equipment myself, this was a low-profile affair in contrast to the many massive mutant vehicles, but hopefully just the first of many future appearances on the playa 🪅
