Artist Bio: Ricky El-Qasem, from Manchester, is a relatively unknown DJ who cut his teeth in the 90s. Ricky took a break from partying and DJing to pursue family and work. Fast forward to 2022, Ricky rekindled his interest in the music software he'd been experimenting with in the late 1990s and started producing electronic music, encompassing genres such as techno, House, Acid, and Breakbeat, under the pseudonym Dark Utopia, with several releases to his name.

Our newest guest hails from Bangalore, India. Weird Sounding Dude's trademark chuggy grooves and squelchy rhythms are always sure to satisfy; indeed, Progressive astronaut called him “one of India’s most intriguing progressive house artists.” 

His DJ career has included performances at Sunburn (Goa), La Foresta (Sri Lanka), Ctrl Alt Dance, Krank, with performances alongside the likes of Nick Warren, Sebastien Leger, Bog, Ziger, Kastis Torrau and others. 

On the production side, this “Dude” has been on fire. He has made a mark on the underground circuit with releases on Soundgarden, Kindisch, Balkan Connection, 3rd Avenue, Strange Town Recordings, and Laika Sounds, amongst many others. His tracks have been widely acclaimed, and supported by When We Dip, Bespoke Music, Husa Sounds, Underground Tel-Aviv, and Progressive Astronaut.

We are super stoked that Weird Sounding Dude agreed to make us this exclusive guest mix. We think you’ll agree that it’s a beauty :)
