Pure Plutonium

It all came rushing back to Priam. His first life, the day he met Blue Pluto, the day he realized he didn’t know himself at all. He quickly took out the Night-water Journal and wrote as fast as he could before he lost the memory again.

As Priam’s flashback continues, he sees his former self begin the experiments. Those terrible experiments. “Chase Theory” Priam muttered. Chase Theory was the magnum opus of Dr. Pegasus’s career. He began his research to understand the universe and how it was effected by quantum entanglement. He wanted to discover how to manipulate matter using a process that involved a large concentration of neural energy. He called this Chase Theory. As he gets closer to understanding Chase Theory, accidents start happening. The machine becomes dangerous and unpredictable, energy bolts shoot out from its sides and rip apart lab assistants. This was the result of immeasurable stress put on it from the neural energy coursing through it. Energy powerful enough to rip the planet apart in an instant. The lights in the planetarium suddenly turn on and he can see the faces of the lab assistants. Their eyes filled with rage, eyes that know hate. The planetarium screen starts to flicker and Priam looks up to see the machine glowing a bright array of colors. The walls shake and blood sprays across the laboratory floors. He sees himself levitating in the middle of the lab with his eyes shut. With a new understanding of the universe, his eyes open wide. He begins matter manipulation, warping his surroundings into dust. As Dr. Pegasus begins his awful reign of terror on the planet, the planetarium lights flicker. The faces of the assistants begin melting away. Flesh falls from their arms as they reach out, crawling towards Priam. He jumps back and begins making his way to the exit as fast as he can. But as soon as he reaches the door, the floor falls and so do the bodies. Priam is thrown across the open air under the screen and is held there as he watches Dr. Pegasus tear apart the planet. Tears begin flowing from both Priam and his past self. “How could I have done this… what am I?” they both say in unison. Then Dr. Pegasus is swallowed by blinding light, and Priam is enveloped in darkness.

Chase Theory

The sound of a machine revs as the lights in the Planetarium flicker. Suddenly Priam is able to see some of the people sitting across from him. He can’t make out any faces still, but he can see the bottoms of white lab coats. His attention returns to the screen as he watches himself in a lab. He’s just been given his first team of lab assistants to help him with his studies and experiments. The screen then launches into a Timelapse. Priam watches as Dr. Pegasus works in the lab with his assistants over several years. The lapse slows as the screen moves in on a corner of the lab where something is being constructed. Priam recognizes it almost immediately. It’s the machine he had built. “One that will change the world” said Dr. Pegasus as he examined the work of art. It had taken years to build, but it would be able to observe, create and manipulate matter at the click of a button. He was excited to learn, to discover, to understand as much as he could. It would solve many of sciences mysteries. It was going to solve… “Everything” said Dr. Pegasus with a hopeful smile and a twinkle in his eye…

Lab Machine

As the early memories of Priam's past life come back to him, much of them are still covered in fog. He is sure some of them are important, but he decides to take what he can and worry about the rest later. As he sleeps, Priam looks back on the fond memories of a young Dr. Pegasus. Music, going out with friends, going to the movies, getting hired at his first job. He watches as Dr. Pegasus moves across the dance floor of a night club. But of course, happiness can only last so long. As this memory comes to an end and the screen goes dark in the Planetarium, Priam has a bad feeling. A gut wrenching feeling, from deep within him. The screen comes back to life, and a Laboratory comes into view...

Dr. Pegasus

Priam and Blue have been living happily together for quite some time now, a few years at least, just west of Pearl Street, 3rdMoonDistrict. They live in a cozy house on the ridge of the Moon Bird Mountain Range, and have recently made plans to travel more across the district. It was night time, he was laying under the sheet next to Blue. Everything was perfect... except for the one thing that had been nagging at the back of Priam's mind recently. The feeling that he knew Blue from somewhere, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He decided to give it a rest for now and wrapped his arms around Blue as he fell asleep. In his dream, he was in a planetarium. The seats were full but it was dark so he couldn't make out who any of the people were. Suddenly the screen came to life and he was zooming through space. Just like he had been when he was rifted into the energy core. Except this time he was flying away from the 3rdMoonDistrict, away from the Tri-Moon System. He was soaring across the Andromeda Galaxy. Passing mysterious lands he had never seen before, places he knew had to be made up in his head because he didn't know much about the Planetary systems outside of the Tri-Moon System and it's neighbors. But something inside made him sure this was all real, that this was indeed a mirror of reality. He shut his eyes, trying to calm himself and relax. When his eyes opened, he was in the Milky Way. The screen moved through the Solar System, passed Neptune, Uranus, then Saturn, Jupiter and Mars until it focused in on the planet Earth. The screen then zoomed in a spiral towards North America, a continent on Earth, so Priam had read. What happened next can only be described as puzzle pieces snapping together. Suddenly Priam begins to remember a different world. No. A different life, a separate existence. Fog covered memories flashing before him, voices he didn't recognize, nostalgia overloading his senses, emotions running hot. But above all Priam felt fear. He didn't understand what was happening. Then suddenly he remembered. He remembered who he was, or rather used to be, when he lived on that planet called Earth. His name there too was Pegasus...

Planetarium Daydreams

As Priam traverses the energy core, he is aware of the effects the flurries are having on his cognitive functions the more he breathes them in. He begins to feel delirious and sleepy as the hallucinations begin. He begins seeing shapes in the leaves of the velvet trees; a rabbit, the head of a toad, the skull of a demon woman, a hand reaching out, a wolverines face, a serpentious dragon and an arched caterpillar. As his hallucinations continue, the world around him turns fuzzy and warm with a pink hue. As the waves of confusion and panic subside, his body begins to relax and as his cognitive function returns, he sees things differently now. Everything has a burst of color now...
