Hailing from Minneapolis, Tanya Leigh is a producer, noise designer and DJ specializing in the darker side of industrial techno. Since the age of five she has been active in music including live performance, teaching and label management. Her debut EP on Omen Recordings, "Origin," pushes the boundaries for modern techno. She has performed at underground events across the North American continent.

This particular set was first debuted as part of Research & Development's ongoing live stream series. Initially scheduled for a February appearance, we experienced some technical difficulties with Tanya's video. After a few failed attempts, we decided to reschedule for Tanya Leigh for March. It's a powerhouse set and we're very happy to include it as an audio only installment into our mix series.

MÉTIER is the new label from Jack! Who? and his UK based deathtechno.com project that is set to journey into deep, dreamy, dub, techno, acid, electro and ambient that will surprise and delight from release to release.

Collage artwork images are by local artist Grassi Art.

Reveillon is a collaboration by Argentinian artists Dist and Gestalt who own Gomboc Records. Releasing music since 2017, they create expansive takes on techno sounds from ambient to industrial and everything in between.

"Solace" opens the release as a dystopian looking-glass with sci-fi atmospherics and deep, haunting chords that add a rich, cinematic ambience.

The title track "Moment of Clarity" steps things up to stellar new heights while continuing the spacey vibe. Injecting more thump and an ethereal feeling, this sparse masterpiece has an emotional essence.

Wlack signs with Subsist Records a heterogeneous album, in which he exhibits a techno that could be defined in many ways, given the author's ability to create different scenarios. Each track survives in its own ecosystem, in a specifically adapted environment, in which it does not need to depend on external resources.

Hall The Time is a versatile release, with 10 tracks that are distanced by their sound and at the same time similar in terms of linear patterns. Its structures vary minimally and the hypnotic effect soon takes hold of any mind. Wlack exposes his warlike character in different ways and with little room for respite, as he allies himself with forcefulness and intensity.

Dez Williams' second Woodwork outing further frames his imaginative productions within a wide conceptual space encompassing several styles of deep electronic underground music. Expressive noisy synth riffs and soaked stabs lace their way through a series of jams which pull equally from modern and vintage varieties of techno, acid, house and electro. The resulting sound and feeling averts description or definition, yet there remains an absolute sense of lineage and vague familiarity in the midst of this set of explorative works. 

From the quirky acid bass and melodic bleeps of the title track, 'hexentrik', through dub meditations invoked by 'screenshot', with the raw machine sound of 'formit' and enlightened pattern play central to 'nowtt', the EP winds its way toward the eastern pentatonic 'ohaguro' and the dramatic interstellar acid, electro-techno afterburner 'entangled data banks'. This collection offers up several mix-ready individual flavours that also serve an engaging chronicle heard start to finish.
