The Cybernetic Drama

New release by 3TH is a strong, dark-tinged techno EP from the label owner Ascion. It starts with the mesmerizing Sci-Fi techno of "The Cybernetic Drama" that culminates with powerful and sinister bells of "San Gennaro".  After evocative IDM melodies of "Inhibitor", the EP closes with "Xatatonic State", an oldschool-fashioned hymn.

The third output of 3TH explains the encounter between two identities belonging to the same mind on an inner sound-journey. Marked by D.Carbone who introduces his alter ego Honzo.
D. Carbone's side who's powerful and direct techno, is suitable for big floors, no exceptions.
Honzo does not hesitate to throw off the power and depth of an unconventional sound.  The main feature is a strong industrial and hypnotic vein with menacing acidic machines striking on this debut.

3TH keep on releasing techno with an eclectic vision, although - for this output - each track has its different shades and rhythmic approaches. 
Divided into four Acts, it sounds like the journey continues after the previous appearance of Lucindo on the label with "The Twenty-Ninth Act".
Act 83 and 86 are both powerful tools that are lead by acidic repetitive patterns and distortions.
Act 100 contains a raw and strong beat that travels through cosmic and "epic" soundscapes.
As conclusion, Act 63 is characterized by emotional melancholic melodies and brain-dance music, accompanied by succession of rousing rhythmic evolutions.

Ascion’s new solitary adventure on 3TH records is the five tracks EP "Public Head". Imprinted in a folder that
is designed by the artist himself, it starts with the electro-ish journey of “Landescape” continuing towards the atmospheric broken-beat techno “Public Head”. On the flip side, “Acido Rosso” is a banging track in the manner of late 80’s acid-house that creates a strong anticipation for a classic techno cut, “Xlight”. The EP is closing with the dramatic sci-fi attitude of “Carnival”.

Lucindo presents side B. Then he presents you to the doorman, then he takes you in to the cave and back out again, somewhere cold, damp and foggy, then back in to the cave and then back out again. Does that make sense? 
There is nothing straightforward about “Lucindo presents Neanderthal”. Hard and unconventional percussion and modular baselines that build up and spiral out of control mark side B of this release. The skeleton within these works is firmly based around experimentation through rhythm, but there is more than meets the ear. 
Even its most rhythmic tracks are left field productions that reference techno, industrial and early experimental electronic music. However, more than anything “Lucindo presents Neanderthal” references itself just as much as it references side A of this release and vice versa. It’s no coincidence that Lucindo and CSA were paired up together for this release.

“The Probe 2012-2016” side A of this release would lead you to believe that the person who made this is possibly a sound artist hired to create a collection of tracks for underground tunnels… disorienting tunnel vision too.
This tape can be a bit confusing. One second you might want to lie down and enjoy textures of deep, harsh but refined soundscapes … well… by the time you reach the second track, your feelings might be in line with that of electronics stuck in an industrial blender going full force. 
There are two extremes to this record: “Down Town Pandemonium” is a very aggressive piece. Track 4, “eXeNTeSICUL” is the sound of industrial noise. Yet there are different moments throughout CSA’s release that are ethereal, calming and beautiful. CSA is creating tracks with a strong attention to sound design, tracks that have a narrative that tie them all together. It’s not background music, it’s not ambient music, it’s harsh, it’s heavy and it’s dark. 

SIDE A / CSA - The Probe 2012-2016 (Snippets)

Although the artist has spent 2015 honing the discographies of his other projects, “Ravers” comes after a silent year for the D. Carbone moniker which in turn gives it all the more impact. The “Class of ‘87” DJ and producer’s first mini-album is dedicated to everyone interested in the ecstatic sounds of 90’s rave culture.

On “Ravers”, D. Carbone distances himself from the functional perception that techno indicates a fairly narrow tempo range. Instead, he approaches it more freely by returning to earlier formulations. The speed is higher than on the artist’s previous releases, varying from 137 to 160 BPM. So though the entire range here is faster than most current techno-tendencies, the scope is also wide. It is about pushing the envelope and rejecting limitations. The notion of rushing is central to Carbone who describes ideal techno as “body music” – a powerfully energetic mantra-resembling medium for dancers to loose control to. Letting go of restraints is reflected in the tracks that have been jammed out free of structural rigidness. Meanwhile, sound-wise “Ravers” is classic D. Carbone: Noisy and acidic industrial techno where every single sound in the mix is subject to heavy distortion.

At a tempo of 137 BPM, opener “Jerk” is most in line with the artist’s past releases using a 4/4 kick pattern, ravey hihats, 808 claps, 101 bass line, pulse synth as well as string pads that recall early Warp Records anthems. On following cut “Orius”, the tempo is jacked up to 152 BPM and the mini-album properly begins to unravel as a distinct entity for Carbone. Here, a bug-like acid line meets gabber-style kicks, metallic cymbals, intensity-heightening toms, a “hoover” synth and noise pads. On “Space Journey 1171” we travel through the infinite to the sound of a beeping space shuttle, trancey synths, grainy beats, guitar-reminiscent tremolo pads and a fast 303 acid line.
On the flipside’s opener we are in the moment to the extent that we simply “Mustacid”. The track evokes the early output of Den Haag’s Bunker Records with gabber kicks, persistent snare and rimshot patterns, a full-on 303 bass, and noise pads of human screams and dissonant guitars. Hereafter, the producer continues his “Hard Vision” in a similarly brutal manner, adding whiplash snares to a high-energy drum pattern, several acid lines and discordant synth pads. On closer “ESX”, the pace is taken down a bit on what sounds like a tense Detroit techno classic played through a distortion pedal; Hardcore kicks and toms blend with reverberated claps, rattling hihats, bell pads, a subtle 303 and an organ-like synth.

Though Carbone sticks to a familiar sound-pallet, the loosely structured tracks at a higher-than-usual pace make “Ravers” a refreshing record. Where his previous slower releases expressed dystopian views, “Ravers” has a cathartic feel – as if we’ve experienced mayhem and are now optimistically dancing among the ruins.

There are depths in humanity which one cannot explore, as there are mephitic caverns into which one dare not penetrate. Madness in any direction, at any hour. The anatomy of human destructiveness, a hole like a sewage drain for the fine clear coat of civilisation, a place where the eye wanders and the lip jerks and drools.
If there is such a dark Moloch which deviously knots a thread within us, with which to hold us and draw us down an eerie and delirious path that we would never otherwise have set foot on, then D. Carbone's mephistophelian alter ego Honzo pulls us with his 4th installment "Distopia – Un mondo indesiderabile" right into its gaping abyss, leading us there where we would have never consented to go.
Panic. It creeps up the spine like the first rising vibes of an acid frenzy. The haunting chill upon your neck. There is a sound intensity makes while echoing through the body, the epinephrine pumping through the jugular vein, voices from unknown origin, the blood throbbing through the numb extremities, heart palpitations, the flashing visions, cold sweat, the heavy breathing, hyperventilation, dissociation, fight-or-flight. Honzo gives us a vision of what it means to truly be in a world of terror and angst and in the secret bloodlit dark behind our eyes we enjoy the cathartic abreaction this brings us.

V.A. The Throbbing City (Snippets)

3TH, a new label founded by Ascion, D. Carbone and the newcomer Lucindo, brings its first release featuring aforementioned three and unknown fourth artist, the mysterious 3TH. D.Carbone opens the door with a powerful menacing acid-techno delirium that can cause serious destruction on the floor as its sinister acid synth creeps up slowly, riding the punishing beat. The damage continues with 3THʼs raw and devastating tunnel-techno track that has its force in a saturated whistle. The total absence of light is enhanced by reversed break-games that turn up a mesmerizing and circular synth-line. Ascion gives his contribution with a sharp offbeat track full of edgy structures and complex rhythms. The destructive force is ensured by metallic hats, noisy claps, saturated beats and a nasty rolling arpeggio that drag the floor into the no-way- back vortex. Lucindo's "The Twenty-Ninth act" is a sophisticated one where a dark endless bass-line is kept in the background, to give an enough emphasis to a classy ping- pong between open and closed hats that are followed by dramatic layers of pads and strings.
