After a refreshingly drawn-out summer of recreation, Love & Other fires up it’s engines once more to proudly welcome the prosperous DJ S.K.T to it’s ranks – effortless in both rawness and intensity, the ‘Where You Went’ EP delivers a broad range of styles in an elegant cross-pollination of sound.

Our Debut Transmission today is the Title track ‘Where You Went’  which features a soulful vocal lead, jagged percussions and pulsing subs that gracefully cut through a rich 2-step drum figure. Playing on a timeless and classic theme, S.K.T opts for a garage-gone-bass panache in this UK-tinged dancefloor weapon.

On the flip, the slow and groove-orientated ‘Hot Tainted Love’ sucks you into a jerry-rigged arrangement of rolling beats and a haunting spoken-word. Before the mid-section the female vocal shifts in intensity bringing with it a beautifully convoluted chord melody, inducing an almost dystopian state of trance - so good!

On top of an excellent string of releases in 2016 this intricately programmed EP marks the close to a very successful summer for DJ S.K.T, and a reimagined outlook for Love & Other.

Tea Vuckovic is a name that we know you'll be hearing a lot of over the next few months. We introduced her to you last month on Techburst with her incredible remix of Mark Sherry & Gene Karz 'Global Eclipse', but now she delivers a massive debut EP for TBR. We have 2 tracks here to stimulate your senses called 'Submit Yourself' and 'Intensity'. Both tracks have earth-shattering basslines that will literally rock & crumble the most sturdy of techno clubs right down to their foundations. Eerie stabs, dark elements and effervescent synths spin & twist their way through both tracks and are complemented by Tea's own spoken vocal parts. The Dream Life are a Manchester-based dance collective made up of Cleo, Baby, Danny and Pablo, a group of exceptionally talented young musicians who live, create and party together and whose music is all about creating an escape from the harsh realities of modern life.   They creating quite a stir in the city throwing parties in different locations across the city and recently setting up their own label Matter, a self-contained outlet that has afforded them complete creative freedom. They all live and work together in a house just outside the city centre and have been collaborating with other artists in a new burgeoning Manchester scene, such as Salute, Fono and Shy Luv.

Their debut single ‘Lonely’ is a stunning statement of intent from this singularly talented group: at once uplifting and contemplative in the same vein of crossover club tracks produced by the likes of Todd Terry or X-Press 2. A comment on the often isolating and impersonal nature of social media, Cleo’s powerfully soulful vocals are juxtaposed with the melancholic, contemplative lyrics of ‘Lonely’, and contrasted with haunting, ethereal synths and atmospheric guitar licks.

“It’s easy to become addicted to social media” the group say of the record’s main theme. “It’s easier to check your Instagram rather than ‘get up out of bed’. “It’s easier to text the friend you’ve not seen for a few months rather than meet up for a coffee. It’s easier to share your condolences with a ‘like’ than to send someone flowers. It’s far too easy to keep coming back to, hoping that there will be something new today.

“It’s also easier for people to hide behind a screen, to control which side of their self they want to portray, saying what they want to say, how they want to say it. With so much control we could talk about so many of our problems out loud, however most of us opt for portraying the dream life: an uninterrupted façade of happiness.”

UMEK is personally responsible for kickstarting the electronic music scene in his home country by first organizing illegal raves and then becoming one of Slovenia’s most wanted export products and number one music ambassador to the whole world.

And he does fly! Around 100 times per year, visiting almost every continent each year. His gig diary ranges from dark underground clubs in Berlin to massive techno stages on world’s most renowned festivals. Apart from making his name in the DJ booth, he’s also a tireless producer. He mostly releases on his own imprint 1605, where he often gives the opportunity to talented producers, unknown to the broader public. His signature sound as well as his label’s production can regularly be heard on UMEK’s widely popular weekly radio show Behind the Iron Curtain, which is now featured on more than 150 radio stations across the world.
