'The first release of 2023 on Damon Jee’s imprint Dust & Blood comes by French duo Kimshies and once again, the guys show what they can do best, explosive indie dance and dark disco for the dancefloor.

Long-time friends and collaborators Peo Watson and Mika Frojman have returned with the latest in a string of releases following their reunion in 2018. After a twelve-year break, the French duo decided to team up again when their 2004 undercover vinyl only tune was brought back into the limelight during one of Solomun’s sets. Since their rebirth, they’ve more than made up for lost time with powerful releases on exclusive labels such as Aeon, Duro and Ombra. Their new offering ‘Blue Planet’ is an intricate and futuristic five-tracker that showcases their unique technical talent and eclectic influences.

The sci-fi-inspired title track invites the listener to dive in head first, setting the tone with its ebb and flow of intricately wrought layers. Urgent stabs combine with a relentless beat and distorted, echoing whispers in a surreal fever dream.

‘Cortex Five Senses’ then brings a retro touch with its driving synth line and unpredictable sound, building up into an explosion of tension as seductive yet almost pleading vocals bleed into each other in a desperate dialogue.

It’s followed by ‘Trapped’ (featuring Erick Faulkner), an intense track that evokes a feeling of unrest and panic with ominous lyrics backed by an aggressive rhythm and urgent sirens.

The electric and evocative ‘Cowboys Don’t Cry’ switches up the vibe with hypnotic riffs straight out of a classic Western movie and a heady, electrifying bassline that runs throughout, perfectly underlining the enigmatic female vocals.

The release wraps up with ‘Coming Out’, an eerie stomper of a track that takes the listener into unfamiliar territory, with distant, almost robotic voices seeping through looming alien sounds and a hard beat.
This unpredictable EP never releases its grip, masterfully building tension from the get-go to leave you breathless and wanting more. Set to be released on April 7th via Damon Jee’s uncompromising and cosmic Dust & Blood imprint.'

The latest addition of Roam Recordings offers three stunning remixes of Berlin based 80s New Wave inspired band Pardon Moi. Following the success of their singles “Addiction” on Emerald & Doreen Recordings and “Inside the Outside” on Nein (which has been featured on BBC Radio) the Berlin duo Pardon Moi consisting of Thomas Freudenthal and James Brook have penned the evocative “Power to the People” along with “Touch2Much” which have been released in original form on 7” vinyl from Hoga Nord Rekords. In the “Power to the People Remixes” EP, Roam Recordings has gathered together a dream team of top remixers - Damon Jee, Markus Gibb, and Curses - who each put their own spin on the originals. Damon Jee starts it out with an an energetic and anthemic version of Power to the People that’s sure to get people on their feet. Markus Gibb moves Power to the People into slightly darker and heavier territory with exquisite production that has become his trademark. Switching gears, Curses takes on Touch2Much and keeps the 80s vibe alive with a stylish upbeat dub that’s both quirky and fun.

All three of these remixes come together in an action packed trio of tracks that will surely be a go to when looking to get the dance floor movin’.

Alex Niggemann’s forward thinking label Aeon recently celebrated five years at the forefront of cutting edge music.
To k​ick off 2019, Kincaid makes his debut on the label: the EP is the first in a string of exceptional music to come this year.

The four track EP kicks off in style with ​On The Back Of A Serpent​. An Italo-tinged number with Kincaid's trademark live sounding drum programming. It’s an instant club rocker with trippy vocal snippets that draw the listener into an ethereal, spine tingling breakdown. ​Stare Into My Monstera begins with a driving groove and dissonant Rhodes, building subtly but relentlessly towards a euphoric Nord lead motif which reappears throughout. A track that will undoubtedly find favour with the discerning Burner crowd. ​Papoose starts with middle eastern influenced sounds and insistent Timpani accents, before locking into a groove which hypnotises and intrigues in equal measure. Finally ​It Said (feat. Sinàl) is a darker affair featuring the sinister vocals of both Kincaid and Sinàl themselves. A ‘lights off / strobe on’ growler, this is one for fans of late night trippy moments - and further displays the diverse number of styles which Kincaid is becoming well known for.

Kincaid may be a fresh face to many but those in the know will be familiar with his unique brand of diverse and genre bending sounds. Breaking through in 2018, notable highlights include a debut release on Moscoman’s Disco Halal and an EP on Sabo’s Sol Selectas plus a plethora of support from titans of the scene; Rampa and &Me, Jennifer Cardini, The Juan MacLean, Roman Flügel, all the way to Dixon and Âme, who opened their Innervisions show at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall with his remix of Blancmange’s ​What’s The Time​.

Kincaid - On The Back Of A Serpent

Hailing from Granada, Spain, Mordisco is the collaborative DJ and production moniker of Hugo and Angel. As organizers and curators of the Mordisco Club evenings in their hometown, the duo has played a big part in bringing high ranking tastemakers to the area, ranging from Red Axes, Fort Romeau and John Talabot, over to Pional and Jeniffer Cardini. Their production work recently found home on My Favorite Robot Records and Coloray’s freshly forged Intercept imprint.

Continuing to blur the lines between contemporary electronics, Mordisco lands on Atomnation with their vivid three tracker 'Ventura'. Our pick of the bunch 'Odissi' showcases the duo's trademark retro tinged disco and deep house sound, brimming with psychedelic reminiscences, vibrant percussions and hypnotic progressions.

From the moment of its release, Iñigo Vontier’s El Hijo del Maiz has become one of the most gripping albums of the moment. With South American and Middle Eastern sounds and his conception of music as ritual, the Mexican DJ keeps electronica in check as a valid mix of influences. The EP El Hijo Del Maiz Remixes, marks the end of an episode which started, in good company, last autumn on the Lumière Noire label.
The second track of his album, Bo Ni Ke, is distinguished by its original - almost implausible - universe, with a Japanese-inflected vocal filter and oriental flutes taking the beats into a crazy trance. Leaning on the 4/4 rhythm, Simple Symmetry’s remix of the track is also very playful (Iñigo Vontier recently remixed Nar for Simple Symmetry). The Moscow duo, noted in particular for the brilliant EP Plane Goes East released on Disco Halal (the Moscoman label which makes the link between east and west), pulls the track over to another - less terrestrial more psychedelic - universe, in their well identified ethno-underground style.

British “outsider-electronic duo“ Cowboy Rhythmbox return to Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound with a  none-existing musical approach up to date from the cowboys Nathan Gregory Wilkins and Richard X themselves. As Detroit producer Sharif Laffrey took on remix duties for CR's 6AM Nathan and Richard remixed the remix of the track, expressing their appreciation of Sharif's work. The result of the remix remix, simply called Deviation Variation, falls into the category creative remarkableness. A lush yet bouncey bass line is equipped with sharp reverbing chords and blurry synths while partly implemented filter hi-hat rides and mono-alternating vocal-snippets are swaying from left to right. The remix reaches musical exellence once the disorted and echoing chord sequence makes its appearance adding a warm vitalness to the wild west Detroit-shooting.
