Premiere : Mimmo & Hirschmann - Danse Macabre [Ritmo Fatale]

10 years ago Power Station started in Melbourne, Australia as a weekly Saturday club night that turned into a label releasing music from the residents and friends of the party. Since the pandemic, we have been quietly re-constructing the plant due to the heavy impact of the effects of covid but are ecstatic to announce we are ready to fire up all the cylinders in the station again, this time with clean renewable fusion energy and new music.

To re-boot, we invite Kris Baha back to the station with a dance floor summer ready EP, “Breathe” which almost feels like the next progression after his last solo EP on the label all those years back in 2016 with ‘Mind Your Head’. ‘Breathe’ is a hazy reimagining of the mid 90’s/ early 2000’s y2k dance era while all still retaining Kris’s signature muscle baselines, textural ear candy, laced in euphoric synth lines. Channeling the era, in the lens of now’ using techno kicks, prog trance / 90’s synth lines and EBM influenced bass and sequences, for any fans of 90’s PVC trench coats and speed shades.

‘Mescalin Dreams’ Anyone that has followed the white rabbit knows of mirrored realities so Kris takes a Techno approach to prog trance while still retaining his classic EBM influenced bass line. “Mescalin, the only way to fly”

‘Breathe’, the name sake EP is about taking a moment to actually breathe, deep, into yourself especially in this climate. Hi pitched vocal samples run through out the track that symbolise the madness of the inner dialogue being juxtaposed on to the mantra, 'Breathe, Breathe, Breathe with me" - all fuelled by the hyper bombardment of social media, grabbing, holding your attention....you just need a moment to breathe to find your self.

‘Bite Me’, is a hi bpm techno trance shell, found in the station years back but re-calibrated with a Chemical Brothers style ebm sequence, biten by techno vampires.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Kris Baha. The Berlin-based artist has long been a favorite of ours, and today we are excited to present "Mescalin Dreams." This track is part of his groundbreaking new EP, 'Breathe,' released on his own imprint, Power Station. The EP highlights Kris Baha's intricate sound design and continually evolving musical style.

This summer ready EP is a reimagination of the mid-90s and early 2000s Y2K dance era, channeling the essence of that period through a contemporary lens, using techno kicks, progressive trance, 90s synth lines, and EBM-influenced bass sequences, while still retaining KB's signature muscular basslines and textural ear candy, all laced with euphoric synth lines.

Cute Heels is the project of Victor Lenis, a contemporary electronic artist living in Berlin, Germany. He grew up in Bogotá, Columbia during the 1990s, surrounded by the radial punk scene. Over the years, Victor's passion and fascination for synthesizers and drum machines to produce and compose resulted in his debut album “Spiritual" for Dark Entries in 2014 as well as the “Third Skin” EP in 2016.  Inspired by equal parts Liaisons Dangereuses, Drexciya and Black Devil Disco Club, Cute Heels connects the dots between Detroit techno, early Chicago house and Belgium electronic body music.

“State of Mind” is a 4-track EP featuring the vocal talents of Berlin artist Aga Wilk aka Romance Disaster on the the title track.  On the A-side are two fresh compositions recorded in New York and Bogota between 2016 and 2017. Victor says, “State of Mind refers to the subconscious as dominated by real facts, natural, unnatural, metaphysical or virtual and dynamism of the body as physical shield.” The track is a slow building foray into techno, elegantly suited for intangible moments. “Golden Tears” kicks off with Cute Heels’ signature metallic EBM funk played with punchy, percussive analog synths. On the flip we present two banging club remixes. The first is from LA-4A, techno DJ and producer Kevin McHugh aka Ambivalent, who adds a strong kick drum and lacerating hi-hats that build up to a mind melting breakdown with a full on acid squelch attack. The second remix comes from Noncompliant, Midwest US-based producer Lisa Smith aka DJ Shiva, who  creates a raw, thumping exercise though off-kilter mechanics and punishing percussion. All songs have been mastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley.

She was nervous, it showed through the tense, precise fashion in which she moved and the grimace on her face as each person passing smiled her way. This was the opportunity of a lifetime, something she had dreamt of with eager excitement since she was very little. However, now as she stood beneath the towering concrete of a fabulous stadium she began to wonder whether she really was the flexible girl and the dancer all those people thought her to be... It was a tall order. 

Pedro Vian is set to release a new album on his own Modern Obscure Music, the Barcelona based producer has a fierce reputation for producing high class electronic music with an individual twist. The package comes with formidable remixes, one of which is from Cardopusher.

Dischi Autunno welcome Harold Boué to the fold for another full-strength cosmic expedition. Best known as Abstraxion – and, since last year, Lion’s Drums – Harold is the man behind the Biologic label and is renowned for his sprawling, hypnotising productions. As a deep as he is decorated, Abstraxion lives up to his name and rips you from the plugs of reality without safely disconnecting.
Take this EP; the lead track ‘Black Vulture’ hurls you into a space on a Black Strobe rocket that tears through black holes like us mere humanoids drink black coffee while the breakbeat-driven ‘Deleuze Fight’ flips us 360 in the anti-gravity flow sending us spiralling into an ocean of lasers. For a heavier intergalactic trip head for ‘Remember Bourdieu’ where more and more turbulence kicks in on every bar, creating a driving hypnotic intensity that you’ll never forget. Finally we crash back into reality with the fittingly nihilistic ‘Nietzsche’s Future’; spiralling, cascading arpeggios with more than a mild touch of prang; it’s a poignant end to yet another unique trip from Jennifer Cardini & Noura & Labbani’s Dischi Autunno imprint and Abstraxion himself.
And that’s before we even touch on the killer remix missions en route… Black Merlin cranks up the noir to mind-melting technoid levels on ‘Black Vulture’ while Interstellar Funk smelts ‘Deleuze Fight’ down to a deep dark acid swamp. What a trip…
