Blurring the lines between UK techno, bass and breakbeat, Out of Sorts present their first release, The Crescent VA. Despite being newcomers on the scene, the Bristol-based label pulls in five artists who are by no means newcomers themselves. Dyslecta teams up with the label after a string of releases this year on Dim Sum, Gated Recordings and Ape-X. Heading up the B-side, Engram is a bouncy, ryhthmic affair packed with intricate percussion, rich sub-bass and vocals that wouldn't go amiss in the heights of the rave era. 
With Dyslecta joining artists Will Hofbauer, An Avrin, Bobo and Farr on this VA, this track sets the pace for the rest of the release. With pre-orders available now ahead of the full limited press release on 21st May, this is a release that isn't set to stick around for long. Making his debut on Distant Horizons, Yosh joins the core Lobster Theremin family with a weighty 4-track EP, ‘My Fire’. Quickly making his name within the new wave of UKG, the London-based artist has developed a reputation for dark 2-steppers and screw-face breakbeats designed to delight and devastate the rave. These varying soundscapes can be found over the course of ‘My Fire’, from jungle influences and atmospheric melodies to ambient dreamscapes and pure euphoria. Ahead of its release this Friday, we have the exclusive stream of the last cut on the record ‘Outa Sight’, which swings between a moody bassline, hypnotic vocal sampling and blissed-out ecstasy.

Mysterious supergroup Protect Ryan (@protectryan) make their HOMAGE debut with the 'Self-proclaimed Critically Acclaimed' EP, featuring four original rave bangers paired with remixes from five of the scene's most trusted underground producers. 

Protect Ryan unites three friends (all veteran producers) that first came together through their shared love of '90s rave culture. Their debut EP arrived on DJ Die's GutterFunk label and introduced the world to their distinct ethos, producing club-ready cuts that inject the dancefloor with big energy. Now they expand on their story with the purest form of their dynamic sound, the 'Self-proclaimed Critically Acclaimed' EP on HOMAGE. 

Leading off with 'Bro Magnum', Protect Ryan launch into an all-out assault of banging breakbeats and growling bass before a squelching acid line takes over. Then comes 'Liam Features', a track also forthcoming on TSHA's fabric presents compilation, which follows with more rouged rhythms paired with playful stabs transporting listeners back to the golden age of rave. Next is 'Senhor Whep' and its nostalgic drum breaks that lay the foundation for an absolutely naughty acid line building into peak time euphoria. Finally, rounding out the Protect Ryan originals is 'Unfinished BTEC' delivering the trio's most refined sound, with tight percussion and chopped vocals stacked on top of a smooth, deep, and emotive bass line. 

While the originals are enough to satisfy anyone's thirst for rave-ready anthems, the release is complete with a staggering collection of remixes. Building on the energy that was already laid out, Apparition (@apparition-noise) speeds up the bpm with their version of 'Bro Magnum' for a hyper bass banger. Then Club Glow's own Denham Audio (@denhamaudio) takes on 'Liam Features' with his signature breakbeat NRG before Boulderhead (@boulderheaduk) flips the same track into a bumping house cut highlighting the original's infectious bassline. Finishing off the release are two remixes of 'Unfinished BTEC', first by HOMAGE label co-founder Ryan Clover (@ryanclover) who's hard-hitting version highlights the deep squelchy bass and chopped percussion while Davis Galvin (@davisgalvin) delivers a sublime and ethereal downtempo chugger.

Releasing, as he calls it, ‘boom boom music’ on labels such as Hotflush, Lobster Theremin and Neutralizer, Belfast based producer Carlton Doom tees up another set of slammers for this second release on the Hypercolour label.

‘Down In Red Light’ EP features a trio of raw and uncompromising bangers, breaks zip past and the rave is strong in these ones, with Carlton Doom deploying mega bass and brain scrambling motifs with serious intent.  Reger is enlisted for a top-drawer remix of ‘Wolf Whistle’ to boot!
