TAKT present a friendly cassette collection of musicians (producers) and DJs, who were united by joint performances in nightclubs in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.
Inside the collection material from Night Caller, Low Tape, Maore Wand, Handarbeit, Vibe Impact, Rnbws, Synkronized, Accuse, Caprithy, Tonel x A.Lozovoy
The material was collected with the assistance of the DUBFUSION (community) label. In this collaboration, TAKT want to show the current range of independent electronic music of the city and its representatives.

A new imprint hailing from Ljubljana, Slovenia, KRI aims to capture the lost futures of EBM, electro and nu-wave from the 80s while pairing them with future-focused productions of the now. Named after post-punk group Otroci Socializma, the label ran by local DJs and promoters Schrauff & Lavka will showcase records enjoyed both in the club and at home, while re-issuing obscure and timeless records alongside fresh material from producers across the globe. The first instalment welcomes a well-crafted journey and debut collaboration between Christian Kroupa, arriving off his LP on Natural Sciences under his Alleged Witches alias, and Return to Disorder and L.I.E.S. alumnus LCN (aka Le Chocolate Noir), with the two producers serving up their eclectic ‘World’s Connect’ EP - backed by a remix from Mannequin boss Alessandro Adriani. Opening production ‘The Quest’ welcomes a futuristic electro ride through warped vocals and resonant synths to set the tone, before Alessandro Adriani’s take on the track dives into darker, murkier territories as he serves up a powerful acid-flecked remix. On the flip, ‘The Hate That You Preach’ continues the dystopian feel with a chuggy production guided by vocal echoes, while ‘Electro City Express’ takes cues from its title with a surging, sweeping journey through cinematic synths. B3 ‘Contraint Attached’ rounds out the vinyl offering with a dark yet immersive and absorbing tumble through post-punk, EDM and synth-wave influences for an intoxicating trip. The release also comes with a digital bonus in the form of the PAN YU version of ‘Electro City Express’ - offering up a ray of light and an abundance of energy via intergalactic leads, bubbling electronics and nimble percussion throughout. Christian Kroupa x LCN ‘Worlds Connect’ drops via KRI on 29th August 2022.

Over the past decade, Vienna-based Florian Stöffelbauer – also known as Heap, has built a consistent reputation as a skilled DJ, producer and Neubau’s label head. Isla is proud to present his latest effort “False Hope” which explores the intersections between industrial, electro and dark wave – all with a leftfield twist.

As diverse as it is powerful, the 7 tracks featured here almost feel like nocturnal tales, chalking out Heap’s observations wandering through the streets of a silent city, with cigarette smoke permeating the air and sirens ringing in the distance.

The cinematic essence of the release emerges from the very beginning, with the atmospheric beauty “Diall” transporting us straight into some late-80s scenery of Kraftwerkian nostalgia. In “Jetzt Oder Nie” a sharp knit of drums is placed on top of the grave frequencies of the bass: it’s indeed “now or never”, the moral imperative of the release, requiring us to take action.

Throughout the whole album, hypnotic sounds punctuate the dark space, bouncing between the polyrhythmic and uplifting energies of “Inner peace” and “No Palm Too Big”, a sneaky slow-burner with a nocturnal groove and Gayna Rose Madder’s robotic voice reciting the stream of consciousness of this urban wanderer.

“Trist” rises slowly yet powerfully thanks to its mystical synths covering the ground and preparing us for what comes next.

The title track “False Hope” holds the unique charm of a creature effortlessly floating in between dualities. As obscure as it is airy, as delicate as it is forceful, this hybrid composition is rich in details and plot twists.

At the end of this journey, “Losing time” reminds us of the urgency to take action expressed at the beginning of the album. In a rarefied canvas, an off-kilter solitary sound comes in, starting off as insistent as a car horn in rush hour, and evolving into a beautiful instrument arpeggiating the melody.

Here Heap concludes his narrative for now. We like to imagine him walking away, a shadow fading in the smoke of the city as the first lights of the day appear.

Swedish born, London based Hans Berg is a producer and live performer with a strong body of electronic music under his belt. His work as individual has mostly been designed with club spaces and dance floors in mind while some of his collaborative work has also strayed into abstract art and sound design projects; namely, his work with artist Nathalie Djurberg which, via stop motion, sound and immersive installations investigates themes of lust, greed, exploitation and fear.

Hans' next solo LP is a homage to the warm hue of ecstasy; the state of unbridled joy achieved through solo and social pursuits that resonate with our core character. The project moves through passages of introspective ambience toward vivid exuberance as it renders the many forms and facets of an ecstatic state of being.

Whatever the stimulus is that segues us toward ecstasy, be it chemical, physical, social or emotional - the individual ultimately experiences the resultant enlivened state within the confides of their own body and consciousness. With that in mind, Hans chose to write with a refined set of instruments; a limited, distilled set of sounds which he uses to reflect these confides.

This small set of instruments mainly consists of modular synths and drum machines, the myriad parameters of which, largely dictate the direction of the music which Hans has used to interact with across long stretches of improvisation. Some post-recording patchwork and a small selection of digital synths / FX work to glue a coherent and transient portrayal together. The result is an abstraction of an internal experience elucidated through machines.

Humid, gooey pads, snapping electro-breaks, caustic blobs of acid and a variety of moods / tempos form the sound palette making it a journey with clear, distinctive chapters while Hans' adroit management of sound design suffuses the project with a certain sharp clarity.

The LP arrives in full on 16th June 2023 via his own label UFO Station Recordings and in the run up to release, Hans will present remixes of selected tracks which allow Efdemin and Psyk to present their interpretations of 'Elevate' and 'Sky'.

The cover art is shot by Berlin based, Swedish photographer Fofo Altinell, who has made his interpretation of the music through his manipulated analog photography.
