Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the fantastic world of Da Iguana. After several releases on cool labels such as Random Collective or Serenades, Playground records is honored to present it’s 39th reference from this talented French producer. ‘Sombras y Sueños’, is not only the name of the release but also expresses part of Pierre's personal biography. He spent some time living in Mexico where he could absorb the oniric language of rituals and the telluric forces of nature.
Before jumping in, we want to warn you about the magnetic power of this album.
Five original tracks full of hypnotic rhythms, downtempo feelings, post-funk groove, organic instrumentations and folk insinuations that build one immersive imaginary jungle. A place out of time, a nowhere land. The perfect scenario for a slow motion dance out of the ordinary everyday reality.

On the remix dimension of this multiverse, Mexican Cabizbajo delivers a more housy version of ‘Sombra Selvática’ and Guatemalan Di Laif goes deep on ‘Reg Sprits’.

From now on, words are unnecessary. Like the king of funk used to say: “free your mind and your ass will follow”.

The new concept EP of Daniel Monaco is the story of a group of friends who have ventured on a mysterious Island with the only mission to enter its infamous Reptilian Club. The tracks are a mix of Disco, Tropical and Dub an obscure psychedelic trip performed and recorded live at Daniel’s studio, but the adventure is not over yet because Enter The Island is not only a long trip into a mystical place is actually also a Board Game for two to four players. The idea was born during the first lockdown. Due the big crisis brought by Covid-19 there were no chances to print vinyl for this EP therefore Daniel thought to design a game made exclusively for this concept, its rules are unique as well as its design reflecting perfectly the spirit of the music.

Alessandro Rosa is the artist who made the design, the BoardGame is the same size of a Vinyl cover made with Forex printed white on black. An unprecedented concept unique in its genre a the creative reaction against hard times.

Segundo compilado de Tepeme Música, celebrando nuestro quinto aniversario.

Mictlán II es un álbum conceptual donde siete artistas que elegimos crearon su interpretación del viaje al inframundo según la mitología y cosmovisión prehispánica de los Aztecas.

Mictlán es el inframundo y parte del universo vertical, creado por la pareja de dioses soberanos de los muertos. Sus nueve niveles representan el viaje del Dios Tonatiuh, quien, al morir en el poniente, ingresa a su fase de oscuridad realizando un viaje al Mictlán, donde están las entrañas de la tierra, lugar donde se reposa y se gestan los componentes que han de nacer renovados para posarse nuevamente sobre la tierra.

Estas dos fases, luz y oscuridad, se asocian directamente con los conceptos de vida y muerte. En un sentido simbólico, artístico y filosófico nuestra vida cobra la misma suerte: emergemos desde el interior del vientre para ver la luz, forjamos nuestra vida para alcanzar el máximo desarrollo haciendo florecer nuestro corazón y finalmente nuestra vida se apaga, y justo ahí comienza un viaje al Mictlán donde nuestro cuerpo será depositado al interior de la tierra.

Tepeme Monamictlán es el segundo de los nueve niveles y residencia de Tepeyóllotl (dios de las montañas, los ecos y el jaguar). Esta es la región donde dos montañas chocan, produciendo ecos como señal a los muertos para cruzar al siguiente nivel.

Following our tradition, Mictlán II is a concept album in which seven artists we selected created their interpretation of the journey to the underworld according to the pre-Hispanic mythology and cosmovision of the Aztecs.

Mictlán is the underworld and part of the vertical universe, created by the pair of sovereign Gods of the Dead. Its nine levels represent the journey of the God Tonatiuh, who, upon dying in the west, enters his phase of darkness, making a trip to Mictlán, where the entrails of the Earth are, a place of rest and gestation of components that are to be born renewed to land again on Earth.

These two phases, light and darkness, are directly associated with the concepts of life and death. In a symbolic, artistic and philosophical sense, our life takes on the same fate: we emerge from inside the womb to see the light, we forge our lives to reach the maximum development making our hearts flourish and finally our life dies down, and right there begins a trip to Mictlán where our body will be deposited inside the Earth.

Tepeme Monamictlán is the second of the nine levels and residence of Tepeyóllotl (god of the mountains, the echoes and the jaguar). This is the region where two mountains collide, producing echoes as a signal to the dead to cross to the next level.

In a watershed moment for the globally-garnered imprint, SHEILA CHANDRA’s ‘RAQS’ gets a licensed rework by ZILLAS ON ACID and it’s a bonafide spine-shaking psychedelic chakra-elevator. Keeping up the energy level but speeding up the tempo, CALYPSO CULT regular, Mexico's INIGO VONTIER shreds out powerful didgeridoo-based peak-time ignition on the A2. FRENZY, already. 

The B-side kicks off with a massive main-room remix of SABABA 5 ‘NASNUSA’ courtesy of Israeli trance-master KINO TODO & DANELZ, chopping the amazingly catchy and beautiful vocals of Japanese vocalist YURIKA into a club-pumping ear-worm. ANDI OTTO brings things back down to the lower tempos Multi Culti is associated with, joining forces with Rwandan dancer and singer EVARISTE KARINGANIRE for a wonky, stompy and most of all unique track. Finally, cult wizard GOLDEN BUG turns in another spooky, subliminal groove, sounding like Toulouse Low Trax having a puff with Aleister Crowley - witchy incantation meets hypnotic beat.

Part psych, part world, part tribal. The aptly named duo Mushrooms Project have an ease in which they blend a range of unique elements into cohesive and heady pieces of sonic art. Mondo Janga is an EP that avoids formula entirely, and can be club or home centrepieces.  In our ears, their signature sound blends playful percussion, and a strong contingent of sample and synth exploration. That sound is showcased perfectly in these 3 tracks. 
Carefully selected artists were enlisted to re-interpret the original visions. With 3 remixes of the title track Multi Culti’s Thomas Von Party took Janga to the late hours, with his deep and driving remix.  While Twerking Class Heroes put their broken beat bliss stamp on the same and finally a tasteful and elegant organic interpretation by Italy’s rising Migra. Finally, Da Iguana slinks his way to another quirky and exciting remix of Mondo that will have you jumpin’
