I See The Light

BPM: 80
Instrumental: electric guitar, bass, drums, pads, synthesizers, arpeggiators.
Production / Arrangements: The song is on the key of F Dorian, as it was not a dark sound I was looking for. Also, there’s one diminished chord I use as a passing chord that adds a lot of color to the progression. To add the song a sensation of space and groove the bass comes before the chords and the pads have lots of delays and reverbs occurring. For this there are 4 layers of pads happening at the same time.
Structure: The song has two parts, one that works as an intro and A part, and other that’s a part B. On the part B we can listen an arpeggiator on a synth, a pad and the guitar hitting some chord notes. On the A part we have a short melody that adds a new element to the same introduction- chord progression.
Tempo: Slow with the bass and guitar hitting off beat rhythm notes/strumming to add a bit of groove.

Tender Dancing

BPM: 120
Instrumental: Piano, acoustic guitar, bass, orchestral percussion ensemble, strings ensemble, classical female choir, wood strings ensemble.
Production / Arrangements: For this mood I wanted to use orchestra ensemble sounds to emphasize the old classic dark mood. The piece is composed only by minor chords. I used some samples of the movie The Lord of The Rings, as I wanted to represent an underground creature. Also, I recorded my voice attempting to speak on Latin as most of the demon voice samples I found were supposed to be on this language. The choir, the strings, and the bell sounds also play a major role as it gives the sketch an old gothic touch.
Structure: The sketch has two parts, one that only includes a guitar and some small arrangements, as voices and string ensemble, and the second one that includes the samples of voices and percussion orchestral elements.
Tempo: Standard tempo, as the main part of the mood resides on the arrangement and harmony part.

Abandoned Church

BPM: 100
Instrumental:
Glockenspiel, background pads and synths.
Production / Arrangements: for this one I wanted to create an atmosphere that reflected my feeling about moving to Berlin. As it is an unexpected journey, I tried to reflect that by using suspended delayed chords, that in my point of view is an emotional sound. The wind is an internet sample that gives the mood the moving feeling. The drum tom pattern adds the most emotion to the track as it’s not heavy but constant. The Glockenspiel was to add a bit of sweetness as I first tried this with the electric guitar but it was a bit harsh. Structure: Both A and B parts are determined by the chord progression and the Glockenspiel sounds. Tempo: The tempo needed to be not fast nor slow as the sketch attempts to become emotional but also driving.

Moving on

BPM: 100
Instrumental: organ, bass, electric guitar, drums, percussion set.
Production / Arrangements: The mood tries to evocate the feeling of being in the space while performing. For that I used as sample NASA recordings. To enhance the space vibe, I used a whammy guitar pedal that raises notes by octaves, a space sci-fi sample when the song is at its peak and the NASA sample repeats some words with long tale delay as an “outer space” vibe.
Structure: the structure is determined by the bass line and guitar dynamics, which in this case play opposite roles; in the A part the bass motive is more melodic and the guitar plays a filling role, whereas in the B part the bass line simplifies a lot to leave space for the funky guitar pattern and other effects. Also, the percussion increases and decays along the track standing out dynamics.
Tempo: the tempo is stable enough for a groove feeling and to appreciate most of the arrangements.
