Max Jacobson has firmly established himself as a heavyweight in Chicago’s electronic music scene, making waves from the city’s premier clubs to its legendary underground. With a style that merges classic house roots with cutting-edge techno, Max is known for creating immersive, moody atmospheres layered with stripped-back, funk-driven grooves. His influence extends beyond Chicago, with international gigs from London to Berlin, Tel Aviv to Ibiza to Colombia, and beyond.
As co-founder of Tied - a record label, event series, and podcast - Max has spent over a decade anchoring Chicago's underground sound. Various friends have been asking me about this mix for years, as 'back in the day' it was distributed on cassette tape, and of course, no one knows where their tapes are anymore. Having made two attempts to retrieve the original recording through my DAT boxes, I had resigned to the possibility that it was forever lost. However, a visit to my parents' home last weekend, where most of my records and old studio stuff are, yielded the DAT in the most elusive of locations. Yay! So here's an old one with the some old faves that some will recall. Others might be hearing them for the first time. I hope you enjoy, either way!
