Not My Heart is kind of a plea for grace. I was doing things in my relationships that I thought were necessary for my peace but they always ended up being inconsiderate. I’m saying, to anyone I’ve loved and hurt, my actions didn’t reflect the love I have for you. I’m sorry and will do better.

Writing this song was cathartic and the process reflected that. I heard the guitar and this song just came out. Words flowed from what it seemed like my heart to my mouth. It’s so cool how it happens like that sometimes.

They did it on my birthday so you could imagine, I’m fed up😂 I linked with my friend Kelli to write the second verse and that was that. This song is one of the ones that just flowed through me. I don’t remember writing it, but I remember how I felt when it was done. I was working at the airport at the time and I just kept singing it in my head and softly to myself. That’s one indication I had that “Love it” was special. It’s a fun listen. It’s fun to perform. It’s about love and I love love. One of my life’s missions is to spread love through joy and I believe that “Love it” aids in that.

Love It

I write about love lost, love gained and my experiences in life. 

Being in studios around great musicians, singers, performers, and producers was a super-highlight of my preteen and teenage years. I’m so grateful that I got to experience that. The more I write, produce and perform, the more I feel connected to my inner child. I’ve always know that one of my life’s missions is to spread love through joy and music is one of the tools I have to accomplish that.

I’ve worked outside of music doing the things that people convinced me were “practical.” That was one of my first missteps in early adulthood: doing things others thought I should do. Lots of introspection and being intentional about enjoying every part of my journey reintroduced me to the path I was on.
