Been getting a bit sick of all the rave stabs and trance riffs in so much of the 'techno' that's coming out at the minute that I decided to do this mix yesterday. Straight up, no nonsense proper techno from start to finish. Cracked open a bottle of rum and was well oiled by the time i started recording. Not a bad Saturday afternoon!

Newest signing to Sasha’s Last Night On Earth label, Henry Saiz, readies his ‘Appreciation’ EP. Two tracks that traverse the intricacies of melodic writing through explorative synthesis and delightful minimalism.

Henry leads with ‘Iridiscent’. The monumental voyage begins with steady kicks and splashy, rolling tambourines providing the backbeat for an ominous synth exploration. The crisp leads contrast pounding toms in the breakdowns and develop through with slowly changing timbres. Fusing in uplifting harmonies to the complex web of interlocking synth lines, the genius of Henry’s writing comes from the amalgamation of different rhythmic patterns throughout this anthemic composition.

‘Voice of A Gentle Breeze’ follows, where modular synth grooves meet eastern influenced improvisational leads. Bright, fluffy drums steer the course while warm, trancey chord progressions bring the emotion. Trippy vocal lines drift atop, barely distinguishable and bring a haunting sense of melody and semantics with no needed lyrics, a genius touch to this delicate piece of music.

Iridescent

Robbie has tirelessly worked his way to an extremely well respected DJ amongst the Belfast club scene.  At the tender age of 18, he has played for some of the biggest promoters in the country; the regular Misfit and Stereo Sessions nights at Thompsons Garage, endless parties for dsqo., OCD & Industry... and the list goes on.  

Outside the booth, he's been working behind the scenes with local BBC Radio, promoting the finest talent the island has to offer presented in the form of a 30 minute mix.  Robbie has also been focusing on getting some of the best DJs in NI to join in with this.

His style can range from heartwarming house music to the darker sides of techno - so we asked him to show us what he's loving at the moment in this week's podcast.  Expect lots of breaks, jungle and drum & bass - enjoy!

Found this in a bunch of CDs I had, think it was recorded from the radio hence the sound quality. 
I was there for this rave up along with a couple of thousand other people, was a cracking night. I used to love it when Fergie was playing this sort of techno, proper banging it out!
