Déjà Vu

How can any of us really be ok with the way our civilization is rapidly crumbling at our feet?  Watching the unbridled joy on the faces of those that are the main architects of it's destruction, as they prep, plan and execute freely with no oversight or repercussions whatsoever!  
Am I ok?  Not even a little bit..

Life, due to circumstance, shows us how karma works.

Some have come to believe, while others simply use the word.
In any case, the outcome is the same.

Do good, receive a reward.
Do evil, receive a punishment.

However, sometimes you want to take a closer look at life.
Because...

One receives a successful business as an inheritance.
Well, go ahead!
Cards, drugs, debts.
Another receives debts as an inheritance.
And so?
Hard work, the school of life, success.

This doesn't mean every rich man's son will fall,
Or that everyone who was unlucky will rise.
And more often than not, life shows that if you’ve got a proper safety net,
It’s easier to move through life.

But you still need to put a shift in, mate.
Without effort, what the envious will call karma might happen.
They will certainly remind you.

I never envied the princes.
I’ve always had to graft for a living myself.
I am grateful to my parents for what they gave me.
For a simple guy from the neighbourhood, it was probably enough.

I don't believe in karma, but the concept is not bad.
If you can help the needy, just help, don't think about a return.
But someday you might be truly glad for the reciprocal actions.
