So so proud to present "Rise", the first single off the upcoming debut 5AM Trio album, “Esoterra”. A departure from my more glitch/downtempo style, It started as a simple song over a 4-on-the-floor beat in a small bedroom in Philly. Then one day at a Trio show in Denver someone turned on the disco ball at the perfect moment, babies were made, and the rest was history. The track evolved into a jammier arrangement, highlighting Keith's dazzling guitar chops in the final section to take it to the stratosphere. Rise is out now on all platforms, DL on Bandcamp!

In keeping with the general musical theme of fusion on "Esoterra", "Unknown" is a track that tows the line between glitch hop and folk. This tune is meant to sound like a message in a time capsule - a message that none of us know what's going on or how life is "supposed" to be lived. I've always believed that it's the blind leading the blind out here - but that it's through living that we define and bring meaning to life.

So stoked to release "Encompass", which is a journey of a tune, a track equal parts heavy and jazzy. One day in practice we were jamming on this future bass sketch with a double-time 2nd drop switch-up, when the idea for the fast chorus riff popped into my head. It was pretty ambitious, but Keith and I felt it would be really cool if we could swing it. Between the chorus melody line and Aarons blazing-fast dnb drumming in the 2nd half, this track has pushed the limits of our abilities as a band, as well as my own personal keyboard abilities. Not only is this our tribute to bands like Chon and Polyphia, it's really just our first forray into that sound, which we hope to explore more further on future releases.

This was one of my first attempts to bring together the songwriting and jam flavors of Papadosio with the lush, glitchy sound design of Koan Sound, and after many years of finessing the details, and with the help of Aaron on drums and Keith on guitar, it's also one of the closest attempts to do just that. 

"Esoterra" is out on all platforms Nov 18th!
