Hola and bonjour! Today's mix was specially recorded for us by Nico Jean, a musician, DJ and producer of Mexican-French origin (how do you like this combination, huh?), whose name alone makes the most advanced party-goers in Mexico City gently wiggle their hips.

A little bird whispered in our ears that Niko has his own label @colectivomiramar, which we love so much by the previous name Casa Disco (Niko, why did you change it?), and he draws inspiration from the exotic sound of the music from the most unexpected corners of the world and melodies found on rare vintage vinyl.

To get in the right mood for listening to Nico Jean's mix we strongly recommend you get into your sexiest pants or your most unbridled shirt, learn a couple of saucy phrases in Spanish or French, and master your hypnotized snake moves.

You pull out a 1992 calendar with the Bulgarian football club «Etar», a postcard with the Riga TV tower sent to you by a person whose bare buttocks you sometimes remember, then you’ll pull out a bitter resentment for the fact that in the eighth grade no one called you to dance at school disco, and a dusty mix of Krjuk for 5/8: the radio which you turn on whenever you want to imagine yourself as a tanned resident of a sanatorium in Gagra.

Today's mix is a guaranteed way to immerse yourself in sweet languor, even if you go for a beer to the local bottle shop in Lytkarino. We want to thank Alexey Kryuk, musician, DJ and a member of the Soft Metal band, for taking the time to find this treasure among his countless archival creations

Serafima tightly squeezed the hand of Leonid Borisovich. It almost instantly became wet either from the August heat, or from the excitement of the moment. Looking at the pond, which reflected a twelve-story panel building called the "candle" by the locals, she asked: "Lenya, would you also want all of this to last forever?".

At first Leonid Borisovich wanted to nod as a sign of agreement, but then he remembered everything that he could not really accept the finiteness of: like a trip to the nudist beach "Little Banana" on the island of Skiathos which was full of surprises, or the promising career of Stefan Bellof, which was ended with a crash into a concrete wall in Belgium, but above all of this – the mix of Istanbul rhythm-caster Ali Riza Firat, created for 5/8: radio.

Tonya was twelve years old. On the small screen of the «Toshiba» color TV were corrugated potato chip floating in zero gravity, news anchor Ken Brockman went nuts and welcoming a race of giant ants to Earth, and a drunken Barney Gumble flew off on a jetpack stolen from NASA with a bottle of champagne in his hand. Glasses clinked in the kitchen. Father received a prepayment and brought Turkish sweets with marmalade inside. Mother opened a bottle of champagne and thickly painted her lips with the lipstick bought in Bulgaria last summer. Outside the window, in the dim light of the loneliest street lamp, there were falling large flakes of January’s snow.

Tonya somehow felt surprisingly good, but she had no idea that she would feel just as good only after 23 years, when she decided to turn on the Safronel mix for the 5/8: a radio, inspired by the «Deep Space Homer» episode, in which Homer Simpson goes to space.

Everything inside Mikhail Alexandrovich crumpled because of the mere thought that he would have to get out of bed in all this September nightmare. He imagined his cold hands, puddle-stained boots, a terribly prickly sweater, and smoking breaks under the drizzle. It was too much.

The only thing that gave Mikhail Alexandrovich strength to finally pull his shaking pale body out from the blanket was not the prospect of being under boiling water in the shower, not a cup of hot instant coffee, and not even a trip to Tunisian Sousse bought for October. It was the 200th anniversary mix from 5/8: radio, recorded by Sasha Shuliko, warming like the July sun

The reality around you suddenly turns into a beach bar called «Carousel». It smells of cypress, charcoal fish and cheap cigarettes. The lights are dancing on the sea surface. The dance floor is sticky because of all the alcohol spilled overnight. There are only you and a hugging drunk couple dancing there (he is a chubby man in a light coloured loose-fitting suit, he’s hardly pronouncing «I’m technically married, but …»; she is a petite brunette in a provocative short red dress). Somewhere on the embankment howls the siren of a police car. Moustached bartender puts your (well, whose else?) misted glass of beer with a swaying head of foam on the counter. He unequivocally bites his lower lip and for some reason you smiles broadly. It’s clearly that tonight you are going to his place. Everything is rapidly slipping away, dissolving in the darkness of the southern night. Gardeners, whether for practical purposes of scaring away birds or in bursts of inspiration akin to communal art, put into use CD-Rs, long-forgotten by their children, and hang them on the vegetable plots, hardly suspecting the musical gems these discs contain. We found one of these CD-Rs in a garden in Avdotino. There are the words written on it in blue: «For the car. 03.06.2002»

Winter night. You are sitting in a compartment of an intercity train. Outside the window there are silhouettes of warehouses and garage cooperatives on the outskirts of the city, which you do not want to leave. One of your fellow travelers, a painfully thin man in a wrinkled shirt, has already turned his back to the wall on the top bunk and is snoring loudly. The train is passing by an old two-story house made of light brick: a dim light is on in one of the windows, cars in the yard are covered with snow caps, a figure in a long down jacket wearing it next to his or her skin is smoking near the entrance. It's a cloudy day in the end of September or already in October. You're standing in an old garage site. On the left there is a noisy highway, on the right — a neighborhood with 16-storey Brezhnev-era panel buildings. You don’t look very good: rust can be seen under the peeling paint and the gates is overgrown with moss. A large old man in dirty overalls, everyone calls him Uncle Slava, as always doing something with his «Volga» car. He won't go anywhere, he hasn't been going anywhere for a long time. A stray dog greedily drinks from a dirty puddle. A kid in Kappa sweatpants is pushing his broken moped somewhere deep into the garage site. What did your owner look like? He seemed to have blond curls and a habit of wearing sunglasses even at night. Stop! Or he had a slicked back dark hair, deep scar above the eyebrow and a ring on his pinky? You don't remember anymore. All he left behind was a calendar on the wall (March 1997, a faded photo of a topless brunette girl with a seascape on the background), a tin can filled with cigarette butts, and beige «Lada» with a pine tree air freshener hanging on a mirror in the interior. A frosty morning in the middle of winter. A small park not far from your home: pine trees with snow caps and a ski tracks parallel to the footpaths. You're wearing an unloved heavy sheepskin coat (but it's so cool to draw patterns on it with your fingers) and fleece pants which make funny rustle noises. The sky is so blue it hurts to look at it. You're riding on the sled down the steep slope of a dried up pond. The wind whistles in your ears and your eyes become watery because of the cold wind. Somewhere behind your back standing your parents: mother has a blush on her cheeks, father has probably pulled out a pack of «Marlboro». After all of that there will be hot tea from a Chinese thermos and a marmalade candies, which lying now in cellophane bag.

Would it ever get any better? Of course it will. For example, when in a couple of decades you turn on the 5/8 mix: radio by Lay-Far, music producer, DJ, owner of In-Beat-Ween Music label and author of the album «True, Necessary, Kind» (we’re highly recommended to turn it on right after the mix)

A girl in a short down jacket walks past with a quick step, sniffing her nose, she's holding a lit cigarette in her fingers shaking from the cold. You're probably better off somewhere else. But you're not going anywhere, because you're an empty bottle of good light beer left by someone in a snowdrift. And there's nothing more beautiful than the glint of your greenish glass in a streetlight. Except for a mix by a member of the \DEMO*/ collective named mirvnoutri for 5/8: radio.
