Any true Trinbagonian will admit, that when it comes to Carnival, especially feting and playing mas, we 'doh make joke'. Your boss could say, if you're absent from work tomorrow, you will be fired; your girlfriend or boyfriend could tell you, if you go to that fete, the relationship is over and even worse, your landlord could say that if you don't pay your rent tomorrow, you will be evicted...but somehow these things don't seem to bother us and nothing will stop us from enjoying our Carnival...a true Trini will always find a way.

5star Akil - Feel Right

Akil has always been influenced by music’s creative and technical
elements. Originally from St James, his father, a pannist, etched the
art form into his psyche from an early age exposing the 6 year old to
the national instrument.
From that age on Borneo loved music, he tinkered and deconstructed
musical apparatus and the work of artists, to understand the
fundamentals and origins of that which enraptured him. He modelled
his own career developing his own style by critically assessing and
building on the foundation created by others in the music and
entertainment fora.
He consistently made advancements juggling two jobs originally first
focusing most of his free time on his engagement with the Associate
Degree Sound System and their performances at the country’s top
two nightclubs during that era. This continued for twelve years and
formalised his path/journey into the entertainment world with the
sobriquet “5 Star.” He eventually seizing the chance and pursued his
passion full time in 1998.
5 Star Akil became a mainstream soca artist in 2013 with the
release of his hit song “Partier” this followed earlier productions
“Shake Yuh Bumper,” “Pray” and “Up in the Rave” which received
lukewarm receptions in the highly competitive soca arena. With
those offerings he was, however, able to entertain at fetes and
make bookings consistently. Since “Partier” he continued to release
formidable songs – “Never Done” with Nadia Batson, “To Meh Heart”
and “Untamed” featuring Lyrical.
