I tried to give this mix a similar feel as to what a typical night playing at METER feels like for me. Thank you to everyone who comes out to our nights and packs the dancefloor, you all have created so many special memories for me and for everyone else who attends. Thank you to Max and Adam for being like brothers to me and for supporting me no matter what. A final special shoutout to Ella, the last track in this mix goes out to you.

Live set I've been working on that draws inspiration from the music played at our parties, the ethos of our parties, and the feelings that I've had at our parties. 

I want to use this as an opportunity to thank everyone who has been a part of this little community we've built over the past few months. Thank you to everyone who has ever given me a record or shown me a band or believed in my music - without you I wouldn't be the same. Thank you to everyone who has come before us who have made it possible for us to do this. Without all of you none of this would be possible.

METER Mix 004 - effeme

This is a live set that was recorded at a METER party and showcases a variety of techno that comes from deep within. This night was a very special one because I wanted to present my raw self and passion for modulation and manipulation of sound.

The energy and intensity created in the room was quite remarkable and I was happy to maintain the pace. My favorite part of the night was looking up at one point after being immersed in my machines and the fog had completely encompassed the room, the strobe was pumping behind me and the laser was vibrant.

As the fog disappeared, the people slowly started coming back into view and everyone was in their own realm getting down as hard as can be. Not a single person was looking at me and it was all about the sound, drive, energy and raw emotion. It was a really special moment I will never forget.

I am very honored to have played METER and thank Max, Adam, Justin, Ilya, Meri, Jake and Miles for their help that night and for always making this world a bright place and most of all for throwing a badass non-judgmental inclusive party in a space that screams techno.

Thank you all for what you do.

METER Mix 008 - Leja Hazer

One dilemma I always run into when playing a party or recording a mix is what direction I want to go. I have just as much love for delicate, deep ambience as I do for unadulterated party music that sometimes  borders cheesiness. This mix I tried to throw in a little of both, imagining an opening set at a party from people filtering into the space to gettin some booties movin. The tracks span as many years as they do aesthetics. Hope you enjoy! - Jake

Big up Max and co. for bringing me through for this Meter Mix. I recorded this live in my home on two Technics 1200's and my custom Condesa mixer. I really wanted this mix to be a statement of what dance music is all about. I'm concerned with how we pigeonhole artists and sounds-- "Oh he's a Disco deejay" or "She's a Techno deejay". I tell people I'm a dance deejay. Ultimately, that's what "Rocksteady Disco" came from-- we wouldn't have what we did today without Rocksteady Reggae deejays and producers in Jamaica or if we didn't have Disco deejays, bands, and producers in New York. That being said, I definitely leaned a bit towards the Techno side of the continuum of dance music for this mix. Hope you dig.
