Visas

Hailing from Benguela, Angola, Kanonia has not only been around the block and back, living in several countries before finally settling down in Spain, but she has also found a way to document her life in her story-like style of songwriting. While her father, who is a multi-instrumentalist, always made sure there was music of all genres ringing around the house, he dissuaded her from learning to play any instruments herself by emphasising she focus on her studies instead. Rebelling in her teens, she joined a youth choir and learnt that the best way to cope was to write, and as soon as her stint on the choir ended, she begged her uncle to teach her how to play the guitar, composed her first song at eighteen and never looked back.
