Since 1998, Dustin Zahn’s work has put his career on a steady ascent. Along the way, he has gained years of experience and unrivaled musical diversity as both a producer and performer, earning him respect among techno and house legends, purists, and contemporary DJs. He performs regularly around the world and his DJ sets are much like his releases. “I like it dark enough for the boys, but groovy enough for the girls” says Zahn. With a preference for marathon sets and his laid-back approach to life and music, he seamlessly traverses through various genres to create a unique, hypnotic vibe. 

As a producer, his releases on labels such as Drumcode, Rekids, and CLR have brought him international success. And his remixes for the likes of Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, Green Velvet, Dubfire, Nic Fancuilli, Mark Broom, Joel Mull and more have helped catapult him into the collections of DJs everywhere.

Despite his busy release schedule, he still finds time to own and operate Enemy Records, founded in 2004, which focuses on the same late-night hypnotic techno that you’ll often find in his DJ sets. His ‘Hand Over Control’ EP for Blueprint features four new tracks of deep dance floor techno, available from 3rd September.

Gracing Token with a 12” of reliable effect, Sterac (a.k.a. Steve Rachmad) offers 4 titles that go beyond the club - balancing raw Detroit influences and contemporary depth. With a reputation built on years of developing his scene through important record releases and local as well as international activity, ‘Light in the Darkness’ confirms Rachmad’s artistic relevance in a quickly developing scene. With a tone-setting introduction for the EP, Rachmad immediately grips the listener’s attention with the pragmatic yet nostalgic ‘Mangled’. Chord stabs inch away from a brutal on-beat drum sequence, a technique responsible for many hits in the genre, this time tastefully repolished through spreaded wooden percussion in direct support. ‘Mangled’ boasts what A1’s should - a worthy first impression - before luring us into what can be considered the apex of the EP. ‘Light in the Darkness’ claims the project title with a gradual exploration through celestial bodies. A minimal opening with a simple acid bassline shows a great deal of attitude before the listener gets caught in an unexpected tide of cosmic pads, dimensionalizing an initially linear record . With slow waves of rich synth work enveloping the only anchor to time that is rhythm, the result is a closed-eyed dance floor experience to be selected in prime conditions. Thick pads are immediately offered again, this time more orchestral than mental. The softness of this primary sound design is expertly dissected by a razor sharp resonant top synth and an upward drum construction, completing the spectrum of sound and unveiling a record with a size fit for warehouse capacities. Rachmad adds almost cinematic suspense to the EP with ‘S.O.’ - certainly not to be underestimated. This leads us to the project’s closer ‘Solidify’, a delirious club groover. With a sound as bent and confronting as a house of mirrors, Rachmad leaves us with a final chapter to keep the heart racing past the end.

Tresor Records is glad to announce two releases by James Ruskin, coming in November 2019. The brand new Siklikal EP featuring four new productions, along with the remaster and reissue of Point 2 - Ruskin’s debut album on Tresor. 


First released in 2000, Point 2 marked a fine debut that entrenches the minimal sequences, utilitarian funk and eerie hypnosis found within Ruskin’s body of work. As Tresor’s relationship with the UK sound grew stronger across the course of the ’00s, it was Ruskin, the label owner of Blueprint Records, who played a critical part in this. Throughout the trio of LPs released over that decade, inspirations of the sci-fi minimal Detroit sound lie abundant, rendered through corporeal slammers typical of the UK vein.

Point 2 was the first of Ruskin’s trilogy for Tresor, and brought a direct and uncompromising vibrancy to the fore, from the aquatic symphony featured on ‘From Over The Edge’ to the pinpoint gaze of ‘Subject’. Gurning loops beat against alien samples, drained into refined abstractions of pure techno.

Newly remastered and featuring two tracks previously not cut onto vinyl, this upfront and bold classic is set to span dancefloors once again.


James Ruskin follows up with a bold new EP entitled Siklikal.

Right from the outset, Nepte draws in by vast sonics and laser focus, unruly synths distort over a skipping beat that hits hard in the right places. As the beat takes a backstep but no less rhythmic, Kn Te3 is one for adventurous DJs, recalling the minimal loops that Ruskin is known for, seeped in industrial melancholy that fizzes a granular decay.

On the b-side, Nocke brings the beat back to the forefront with a muscular UK techno sound, highly effective and pounding. Closing the EP is Kn Am3 which retains the industrial sinew of its near-namesake Kn Te3, exposing raw synth excursions over brutalist machinations. This EP symbolises Ruskin’s dynamic approach, pushing at boundaries yet never without a strong grip over the dancefloor.


Tresor.145 and Tresor.314 release November 1st and 8th on 180g. 2LP and 12" vinyl respectively.

Ø [Phase] inaugurates his new Modwerks imprint with a twelve-track studio album from himself entitled 'Before This'. Ashley Burchett aka Ø [Phase], is a producer, mastering engineer, and artwork designer from South West London. His stark, driving tracks are concerned with time and space themes which fit squarely into the lineage of warehouse-ready British techno artists like Surgeon and Luke Slater. Ashley's debut 12" as Ø [Phase], 'Module Overload', was released on Steve Bicknell's Cosmic Records in 2000 and his further releases on the Belgian label, Token soon became constants in the DJ sets of many prominent DJ's. Two studio albums and remixes for Robert Hood, Scuba and Rødhåd have consolidated his position as one of the most important representatives and developers of the current London Techno sound. Ashley now launches his Modwerks platform to release his 'Before This' project, a personal creative expression of his prowess for music writing, engineering and production, mastering, label formation, artwork, and filming/animating/editing 12 accompanying videos. 

The album kicks off with 'All I Could Think About' which layers tunnelling synths, dynamic drum programming and a revolving melodic section before 'Fugue State' offers up hypnotic atmospheres that balance with tripped-out fx and shimmering low frequencies with pure elegance. Up next, 'Human Error' places focus on entrancing leads, alien-sounding modulations and patiently developing, deep space pads whilst 'Liquid Form' employs rubbery oscillations floating above sizzling arpeggios and vacillating grooves all intricately unfolding. Raw textures and sharp synth flutters feature in 'Intensity Fluctuations which then leads into 'Planck Scale' which deploys ghostly mechanics and echoing elements.

'FilmNoir' is a spooky, glitched-out cut with flickering highs and sparse rhythms before making way for 'Modwerka' which moves into ominous territories with minimal eerie sonics and a rumbling bassline. 'Underwater Acoustics' follows with aquatic tones, smoky chords and engaging, syncopated grooves until 'Morphic-R' takes things up a notch with an effervescent, snaking roller featuring weighty kicks and glossy bleeps which ebb and flow within. Rapidly moving into, 'Zedd' with orbiting acid squelches, rippling drums and industrious synth modulations until Ø [Phase] rounds off proceedings with 'Tech Noir', a loopy techno cut with intricate bursts and underlying tension throughout. Ø [Phase] ‘Before This’ is out on Modwerks on 12th March 2021.
