Both as a DJ and a producer, Patrick Gräser aka @answercoderequest has honed a hybrid musical approach that stands out in a world of uniform 4/4 techno. Melding pad-driven harmonies, intricate breaks and an industrial sonic palette, Gräser has occupied a unique space within the @ostgutton-official cosmos since debuting on the label in 2012 and becoming a Berghain resident shortly thereafter. His various releases and remixes for Ostgut Ton, MDR, Dolly Deluxe and Monkeytown Records continue to be highly sought after. As a DJ, he has taken his bass- and breaks-heavy techno to clubs and festivals around the globe, while remaining an integral part of the Berlin scene.

For our show, he recorded a special set that is changing the mood from the beginning to a climax in the middle with a long outro to the end. This mix is made to connect people in the times of self-isolation and to give everyone a positive mood. If you open your imagination, you can explore the personal feelings of Patrick hidden behind the music. Ambient for him is not only background music but a cure that helps you feel more calm and positive in hard times.

It is our pleasure to welcome Bloody Mary to the Global Vibe Radio family.

Bloody Mary is a French-born, Berlin-based vinyl DJ, producer, and label owner of @dame-music, which she founded in 2010 with a focus on raw and analog sounds.

After relocating to Berlin in 2005, it wasn’t long before Bloody Mary’s career as a DJ was put on the international stage. Nowadays, her name is easily recognizable in the worldwide electronic music scene, having performed at festivals and clubs the world over as both a DJ and live act for more than 10 years.

To this day, the label has had over 40 releases (featuring artists like KiNK, Thomas P. Heckmann, Alien Rain, Hardfloor and many more), and has hosted numerous label parties across Europe. 

As a producer, Bloody Mary has released countless records on Dame-Music over the past 10 years. Since 2017, she decided to branch out further, releasing her music on Josh Wink’s Ovum Rec., DJ Pierre’s Afro Acid, and Tim Taylor’s legendary UK techno imprint, Missile. She regularly features as part of Amsterdam’s ADE, such as being hand picked by Roland to talk about the 303, or being asked to produce and match music to an advertisement in front of a team of industry professionals as part of the Sync panel.

Her unique musical taste and elegant on-stage presence have seen her feature at festivals such as Movement Detroit, Piknic Electronik Australia and Barcelona, Intro Festival Mongolia, Epizode Vietnam, Rainbow Serpent, ADE, Sonar and WMC Miami. She has also graced the decks of world-renowned clubs like Fabric London, Space Ibiza, Panorama Bar Berlin, Smart Bar Chicago, Tresor and many more.

Bloody Mary continues to travel the world, rocking festivals and clubs as both a vinyl DJ and hardware-based live act across all continents.

Global Vibe Radio 262 Feat. Bloody Mary (Dame-Music)

The initial spark of creativity resides deep within us like a seed, waiting for water and warmth before germinating into a floral wonder. Our next guest is a rather fine gardener in this sense, having cut his teeth for 10 years in the Berlin underground before flourishing into the internationally renowned artist he is today. At this point, Rødhåd is an artist who hardly needs an introduction. Launching his party series-turned-label Dystopian in 2009, he undoubtedly helped facilitate the musical landscape of modern-day Berlin with his uncompromising vision of techno. Known for his infectious smile and ginger personality, he has won many hearts and minds with his selections and productions ever since his humble beginnings. 

With his new label, WSNWG, he has entered a new chapter of collaborative synergy and fluid audio-visual exploration, releasing his first full-length ambient album MOOD as well as tracks with Ø [PHASE], Lady Starlight, and Antigone among others. It is in this spirit that we have asked him for a contribution to Unrush, and his mix does not disappoint. Clocking in at just over an hour, it takes us through sweeping valleys of sound, whispers of content, and everything in between. So let yourself burst through the soil of inner turmoil and unlock your buried visions with this impeccable mix...

Imagine an alternate universe where best-selling gaming franchise ‘The Sims’ is about UK techno DJs and players have to take their avatar around the world, negotiating airport transfers and dodgy promoters, spend hours in hotel rooms eating chocolate out the mini bar, then play the gig in real time and head back to the airport on two hours sleep tweeting things like ‘Turin, you were amazing.’

Now imagine a universe where The Sims, aka UK techno DJ extraordinaire Ben Sims, owns the machine out of ‘The Fly’, except instead of mixing himself with a fly he merges with Kenny Ken and steps out as Benny Ben, dub specialist and vinyl junkie. You don’t need to imagine this universe because it’s our universe. It’s here. It’s now. It even includes some artistic licence about a Kenny Ken gene-splicing machine.

Benny Ben is Ben Sims’ real life avatar, as he’s already a techno DJ touring the world, eating chocolate out of mini-bars and tweeting stuff like ‘DJ Rebel Badboy reporting for duty’. Benny Ben travels, especially to a field in Oxford, but he spins rare, rootsy 12s and 45s of reggae, dub and lovers rock. Benny Ben loves soundsystem culture, body-moving bass and the sound of sunshine. Benny Ben is back to show us how it’s done.
