I decided that it was time to upload the unedited versions of the interviews from the Ark podcast series that we had been conducting over these last 6months.

Originally it started as a project with Kill your idols and myself back towards the end of 2023. But I soon found myself flying solo after he returned back home to the UK.

In the beginning, speaking for an hour with someone felt like such a daunting task. Would it be engaging? What would we talk about? Would anyone care to listen? Would it be enough? Would I be enough...

In the end, we found the hour long format to almost be to restrictive. As the conversations started to flow, and the stories and ideas that we got to share  started to emerge. The clock ticked onward, and the sifting of the sands started to reveal the gold.

There are a lot of stories here, there are ideas and experiences shared from both sides of the conversation. 

Some of it might be relevant. A lot of it isn't... I never planned anything, we'd just rock up. Sit down. Hit record and free fall. I found that way I was less worried about what was coming, hitting markers or racing towards the next question. It allowed for us to both be present. And the conversation and interest was a more genuine and balanced interaction. 
 
I thoroughly enjoyed this project, and the privilege of being able to sit down with someone to talk about their different perspectives and experiences that lead them to here and now.  

It was an invitation and opportunity to be seen and heard, to create the open space where thoughts flowed. And we got to meet the people behind the names on the other side of the screens (or turntables in this case)

I learned so much with this project. I gained a level of insight I'd never experienced before. Sometimes it was confronting. But it was always honest.

It is in our ability to be vulnerable, that we find our true strength.

Portuguese DJ/producer: El'Figo

Our paths crossed on Instagram back in 2019 when he approached us about sending us a mix. I had no idea of the global impact he would then go on to have. Uniting DJ's and producers the world over through his various remix projects, live streams and events.

It has been an absolute pleasure to witness him moving from strength to strength over these last couple of years, as his infectious passion ignites and unites others, helping to create new opportunities for all.

This mix is a showcase of one of his trademark high bpm hardtechno sets. Combining elements of industrial and hardcore, with street attitude. A couple of his newest productions are also on display here, so don't sleep on this one!

How this mix came about is a bit of a funny story… 😅

A few weeks ago, someone emailed me asking if we had any podcasts from General Rush? 

Now, I don’t usually get emails of this kind. Most people just contact us through social media. Where we usually just get a lot of blanketed self promotion and spam (you know the type…) 

But there is was... An email… 😐

I replied, and said that unfortunately we didn’t have any podcasts from General Rush. But we did have a collection of mixes from many other artists available.

Almost immediately, we received a reply back asking if there would be a podcast coming from him in future?

And then it got me thinking… Maybe I should just ask him? 🤔 

And so we did 😂 

For [nstbt_podcast_091] we present to you all: General Rush

General Rush is a name that we have seen floating around the scene for many years now. In Germany, and surrounding areas his name regularly appears on event line ups, and radio shows and podcasts. 

He refers to his style as ‘Military Hardtechno’, and it’s not hard to see why 😬

Straight off the bat, this mix is a relentless barrage of high bpm heavy kicks to the teeth. Paired with the occasional melodic breakdown, only to dive straight back in. Warp speed, this is a full scale assault on the senses!

I don’t usually approach people about podcasts, we’ve always been fortunate enough to have people send them to us at random.

So to the person who sent us that email a couple of weeks ago, here it is. And thank you for the suggestion 🙏🏻

The latest [nstbt_podcast] comes from Italian hardtechno DJ/producer duo: Barka & Taris

Since 2010 the guys have been a force to be reckoned with, joining forces and operating as a 4 deck/2 mixer performance setup. And establishing themselves within the global hardtechno scene.

Our 95th [nstbt_podcast] comes from South African DJ/Producer/Promoter: Miss Strange 

Artist, dancer and bass addict from Johannesburg, South Africa,
Ilana Botha aka Miss Strange is no stranger to the underground scene
and started her DJ career in 2011 with a dynamic musical background
in all genres of underground sounds such Alternative Rock, Metal,
Goth EBM, Darkwave, Industrial, Psychedelic and DarkForst/Psy.

With a natural talent for music, vocals, and art, and having pure love
for musical instruments and all styles of dance, it was always the
heart and soul of her life.

In 2021, playing Techno at a local festival for the first time, her
unique taste and style for Techno developed and evolved, and she
discovered a great love for underground Techno, Dark Techno,
Industrial and then Hardtechno, which has now become the core and
sole focus in her musical works to date.

Now the founder/owner of Explicit Noize Records/Productions/
Podcasts, she stays true to her passion for all underground
electronic music, showcasing the darker, harder, and faster side of
artists from all around the world with a diverse set of skills and
passion for the most filthy, dark and dirty underground sounds out

It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these. The last time we put together a mix for an [nstbt_podcast] was way back in October 2020 for number 59 🤯

A lot has happened since then, and a lot has changed… 

We’ve been very fortunate to be able to share so much music over these last few years, and to connect with so many people.

What only feels like 6 months ago, has somehow turned into 3 years gone in a flash 😳

“No sleep till bedtime…” turned 15 years old last month. And we had our first party in a little while to celebrate. 

We’re in the process of organising some new releases, and organising some new events that will be happening before the years end.

I know this is the space where I’m supposed to be selling myself and writing about all the things I’ve done. 

But really, this is all about you…

I get to do all of this because of you. Even when I stop, you all still send me music. You all still want to be a part of this. 

And it’s because of all that, what once started as me trying to be the person that I needed for others. Turned into all of you, being the push that I needed to become the person that I am…

lluminati, is a rising DJ and techno producer in Germany's hard electronic music scene. After discovering his passion for techno music, and more notably the underground techno sounds. He immersed himself within a world he was soon to became a part of. 

In 2019 he started playing at local parties and clubs, where he quickly made a name for himself for his unique sound and high-energy DJ sets 🔥

Illuminati began experimenting with his own music production in 2022. His sound is a combination of industrial, acid, hard techno and schranz. Characterized by heavy bass lines, distorted synths and pounding beats. 

Illuminati Techno has since become a resident DJ at two of the most popular techno events in Münster Germany: “Wir sind die Nacht” and “No Mercy.” 

He has played alongside some of the biggest names in techno, and has gained a loyal following of fans who appreciate his energetic and intense sound.

“Getting higher” is an absolute banger of a track! it's well constructed, with very clean production. Whilst also maintaining that high energy techno sound that he is renown for. 

This is a track that is sure to become a staple in many DJs sets. The perfect blend of the old and new school techno sound. With the energy to help carry the listeners through the night.

Corbis R. is a new name for a familiar face. Formerly a part of the hardstyle DJ/production duo KLK & Ben-e Boy aka K&B, he has been whipping Melbourne's dance floors into a frenzy over the last 14 years.

Now setting his sights on new horizons, and with a string of solid releases already under his belt for Spacecake recordings. You can expect the same high energy, and detailed production quality applied to a new format.

The thing I love most about this release is how "Melbourne" it sounds.

I know we say this all the time, but we are grateful to be able to work with so many talented artists, and to be able to share their music and stories with you all.

About Me:
6head_slug is a Melbourne based hardtechno DJ/Producer/Promoter, who has been bringing his own unique blend of hard and funky beats to Melbourne's dance floors over the past 19 years.

The beat of the drum and his love for music has driven him from a young age, although It wasn't until 2004 when he brought a set of turntables and his first few records, did he realize that it was what he wanted to do with his life.

Since then he has been refining his sound, and pushing forward in the hope of inspiring others, preaching that 'you don't need to change who you are to fit in in this world...'

In June of 2008 he started "No sleep till bedtime..." A series of parties catering for the harder styles of dance music, which has since played host to some of of Melbourne's best local talent, and special guest interstate DJ's.

2024 sees 6head_slug more focused than ever, as he uses his [nstbt_podcast] series and digital labels to help push the harder sounds of techno in Melbourne, and to share the sounds of Melbourne with the rest of the world!
