On Cypher 025 - Remix A Dojo Classic, ill.Gates and the Producer Dojo Senseis challenged the community to reimagine their classic songs. The EP starts out with a heavy RIP KENNY remix of 6TH STREET ft. Liz Bezler’s haunting, “Choose.” Catawompus then takes a turn reimagining “Blackout by ill.Gates+Spiderhound+Ego Splitter. Slowform then comes through with a vibey version of the ill.Gates Mega Collab “Cthulhu.” 6TH STREET delivers a fun banging remix of ill.Gates’ Nitro next and the EP finishes up with Luke Rain and Schuz putting a fun twist on Spiderhound’s “I Love You Like.”

I'm honored to be a part of this collaboration with STEZZY Studios and Tony Tran. I've been a huge fan of both of these giants over the years so it's truly a dream to work with them! The challenge was to make an original track to a Tony Tran's choreography. To be honest it was harder than I anticipated, but once it started flowing the song came together beautifully.

The lyrics were inspired by Tony's movement and the fires that were tearing up the West Coast a couple weeks ago when I was writing this. The whole country feels more tense than it ever has been as we come closer to the election. People seem more hopeless than ever with this year not seeming to let anyone breathe.

I hope you love the song and it resonates with you. And again, HUGE thank you to STEEZY and Tony Tran for having me on this amazing project. Without Tony's movement, this song wouldn't exist.

When creating this mix I was reflecting on this year and how dark it felt sometimes. This wasn't my most creative year. This wasn't my most passionate year. The pressure felt stifling at times. There were times I couldn't get myself to write any music because my mind was so noisy and emotional.

But at the end of it all we've come a long way from where we began. I began to reflect on the people I love in my life - my fiancée , my supportive family, and my close friends - and I realize there is a lot to be grateful for. At the end of the set those are actually clips of me and Liz while we were traveling in Thailand. Watching those moments reminds me there is a light at the end of this. We will get to create new stories and travel again one day soon.

That's what I was thinking about when I was creating this set. I'm excited to share with you some of my own songs as well as some of my all time favorites. I hope you enjoy it!
