Tara Cross has been one of the most prolific female artists in the 80s underground synth wave, with collaborations and releases that appeared later in many of compilations that accompanied the renewed interest about the genre. In the early to mid 80s, based in New York, Tara, synthesized, recorded, and released her own music in cassette and vinyl and collaborated with artists like Stefan Tischler and Unovidual. This episode explores Tara’s work that was recorded and released through the 80s, including re-releases by labels such as Minimal Wave records as well as lesser-known cassette tape tracks.

Outsiders: System Failure - Tribute to Tara Cross @ Kiosk Radio 07.06.2025

Some things just make sense and we’re pleased present the first collaboration of 2 of our favourite artists : RED AXES & C.A.R. 
This release has been a long time coming. Tracks were first exchanged back in 2014 and it’s been an organic, intuitive process. Like-minded musically & likeminded lyrically - Red Axes & C.A.R. seem to work the same way. Recordings happen fast. One or two takes. It’s punk and it’s effortless. 
1960’s, psychedelic 2040 arrived on queue. A sweaty, London-summer evening, after spending the day writing alone out Hackney Marshes, Chloé demo’d the vox. - languid, nostalgic, at arm’s reach from the city - the track depicted the moment perfectly. A paper thin Victorian wall separating her from the chatting neighbours, she shut her eyes and got as close to the mic as possible. 
A few weeks Red Axes & C.A.R. were together in Tel Aviv. Ten times sweatier than London. To say the studio was dripping hot is an understatement. There was a party heaving in the square below, a van parked in the middle, broadcasting out on the radio waves. Dori was determined to use the intimate London vocals for 2040 and so they cracked on with Incognito, a club track that isn't one but works in its own way: rockabilly reverbs, an almost hip-house delivery, the strange alchemy of 808 fumes. Already inebriated from the city, Chloé had written her words off-cuff in the hotel room, just hours before.
Fastforward a year. Summer 2015. Niv had sent Space Cream a few months earlier - an electronic 4/4 ballad which already featured looped samples of some of the stuff they’d recorded in Israel. Heady and sticky, Chloé had to wait for longer days before she could get anything down.
Finally XMan, descends further down into psychedelia… Perfect for the London winter closing in. Heads filled with Cookie Mueller & memories of losing oneself in dark, basement parties - the words rolled off the tongue. 
Last autumn Red Axes invited C.A.R. down to London’s Pickle Factory to perform Incognito live. During soundcheck she penned some words for a new track they were debuting, which they also ended up doing. It’s an experience synonymous for this collaboration. What comes easy, makes sense.

Since 2004, I have been immersed in the world of music and the arts. It all began with hosting shows on Robotica FM, an online radio station, where I interviewed local artists and showcased their talents to a broader audience. This experience, combined with my curiosity for visual arts, led me to venture into live video art. As VJ 6ummy, I created dynamic visual experiences for events, which earned me a residency at KEY Club until 2008. Over the following years, I have participated in numerous festivals, such as  SpringLove, Good Vibes, Open Park, and The WareHouse, among many others, each providing unique opportunities to hone my skills and connect with vibrant communities.

In 2010, I began exploring my fascination with vinyl records. This passion drew me deeper into the underground music scene, where I have dedicated myself to collecting vinyl and refining my mixing techniques. My distinctive styles are Techno, Deep Techno, Minimal Techno, and Tech House, though I enjoy listening to a wide variety of musical genres that enrich and inspire my sessions.

In addition to performing, I have contributed to several notable projects. I managed JustRave.com, a platform that connected ravers and promoted events, and played a key role in the P!NK Project, a collaborative initiative that brought together artists and musicians for unique performances. I founded ALA, an organization focused on supporting emerging talent, and co-founded Décimo Piso, a live and on-demand show featuring performances by local artists. I also produced several episodes of SPITCH, a podcast featuring interviews with international DJs. I was part of Manifiesto, a group of enthusiasts that combined the arts with nightlife to create an experience. Alongside these efforts, I have continued DJing and organizing intimate parties under the name KAPUTT, fostering a close-knit community of music lovers. Linked to Web3 since 2020, playing in metaverses and the local Bitcoin Pizza Day.

Currently, I am excited about a new live-streaming project. This initiative brings together talented artists and aims to deliver high-quality performances to a global audience. More details are coming soon—stay tuned!
