A binaural recording made within the middle of a 10 speaker multi-channel arrangement we made around late September, The composition made up of field recorded bells, which are being cut up, rearranged in pitch and scale and played back at random. Such a technique was made using the audio synthesis platform Supercollider.

A fragment from an idea, for 700ok 'The Aliveness Of Things' by artists Haruka Lžíce Fukao & Zac Pomphrey. The artist have been sending recorded sounds back and fourth, with a focus on the small, acute spaces of there domestic homes. The rattle of teacups, the opening of a letter. How often are we present with these moments of intimacy, sound with all the modesty of a mouse amongst the tall grass.

The Aliveness Of Things - Part One

Dried grasses in the wind, waiting in the evening, loud trollies, grains of punctuation, rainfall hitting railings, harmonic tones, cleaners whistling, waiting at quiet stations, broken drainage pipes.

A stoppage. Frozen moments, points of space, gaps, breaks in journeys. Fluctuating suspense and expectation. Auguste explores the relationship between these contexts, forming new listening spaces in the gap between things.

Reflection on the tempo of my walk, amongst the oceans song is a composition by artist Zac Pomphrey for 700ok. Made up of field recorded audio from a week long residency with JOMO collective at The Newlyn Gallery/Exchange in Cornwall. Zac, along with close collaborator Auguste Oldham focused there listening on Newlyn's historic Fishing port, revisiting the the area throughout the week, as well as inviting members of the public to join in a shared listening walk through various spots along the harbor.

Part 2 of the project examines this exchange, while attempts to carve new narratives within the fragments of a recordings, creating a new space between two distant individuals.
