Initiated as a celebratory call-to-action for musical friends and family to compose soundtracks for “imaginary landscapes”, the inaugural LP lays the foundation for a year of upcoming collaborations amongst a diverse set of musicians, designers, and performers. 

A collection of both music and visual art, featuring core 79A artists (Tongueless, A.M. Architect, Before Tigers) as well as guest contributions from Telefon Tel Aviv, Shigeto, Rafael Irisarri, and more. The Recreational Beats EP takes some of the deep, 170 bpm-based ideas that Stillhead was playing with while making both Iceberg and Copenhagen albums, and takes them a step (perhaps a side-step) closer to the dancefloor.

Mixing the deep, spaced out sounds of dub-techno with the tight percussion, deep bass and intricate breaks associated with experimental drum & bass, Alex pushes headlong into the abyssal soundscapes he has become known for, but this time with swing, with conviction and with a 3-track that sits somewhere between the dancefloor and your headphones.

Throw in an expansive vocal track with collaborators Cubehog, (reminiscent of Ian Brown’s wider tones) and you’ve got a strong 3-track offering.
