Samanta Liza is a Brooklyn based singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, DJ and producer of Swedish and Indonesian-Chinese heritage. Growing up, she moved around the world: from London, Sweden, Kuwait, Florida, Shanghai to New York, she was introduced to a variety of cultures and music at an early age. Samanta started writing music at the age of 13. Towards the end of 2020, Samanta decided to focus on creating electronic music—inspired by a variety of artists and genres. Expect to hear a wide range of elements in her music, sampling sounds from the djembe, bongos, hand pan, guitar, and more.
About this mix:
In making this mix, I felt inspired to create a musical journey rooted in an exploration of cultures. As a vocalist and hand percussionist, these tracks really play on my heart strings. Starting slow, moving upwards and around, I hope this mix inspires you to move and feel in the same way that it inspired me. The last track of this mix is one of my recent releases "Dream of You", featuring my good friend Panoramix on the flute and Shafreaq on the darbouka, which is currently #11 on the Beatport Deep House Top 100 Releases (as of 15/6/21).

Part four of Bedouin’s superb ‘Temple Of Dreams’ remix package features new interpretations from Harry Romero and Anja Schneider.

‘Temple of Dreams’ was, of course, Bedouin’s long-awaited debut album and one full of top-tier musicians and collaborators. It came in early summer amidst the kick off of their 2023 Saga residency at Pacha Ibiza, showcasing the breadth and depth of their ubiquitous house sound. This fourth volume of remixes once again welcomes some standout names to add their own unique spin.

First up is Harry Romero, a long-time house legend with a famously steamy and chunky house sound that has kept him at the heart of the global conversation for many years. His take on 'Flore Chico' feat. Chico Castillo is powered by vast kick drums and lush chords. The lush organic percussion and gravelly vocals take on a magical vibe as the synths melt the soul.

Next up is Berlin powerhouse Anja Schneider, a core part of the underground scene for many years and head of the tastemaking Sous Music label. Here she takes things into sparser territories, turning 'Fortune Teller' into a spine-tingling minimal cut with lithe piano chords draped over wavy drums and warm percussion. It's a punchy, yet supple late-night groove.

This is another essential pair of remixes that add a fresh perspective to the Bedouin originals, ‘Temple of Dreams (Remixes Part 4) (incl. Harry Romero, Anja Schneider)’ drops via Human By Default on 24th November 2023.

Some times the music just magically comes out, and that is the case here with "Syria" by new Sol*Selectas artist Unders from Amsterdam. After several successful tunes above the 120 BPM mark on labels like Sincopat and Groove On, "Syria" was Unders' first attempt at slower grooves, and an accidental experiment that just "fell into place, and was automatic magic". Syria's current political unrest is all over the news and social media, and the story being painted is difficult to watch. Driven to create a song which goes against all the negative publicity, Unders says "between all the negativity, the more i looked into the situation, the country, its people and its culture, the more this track reminded me of so much beauty the media doesn’t portray." The song itself a slow minimal trip with chopped up guitar licks, a gorgeous flute sample that takes the listener to far off desert lands, and features the vocals of Veerle.  Satori is yet another up and coming producer from the Netherlands, gaining instant recognition sharing the stage and studio with Acid Pauli, and producing incredible tunes utilizing live instruments played by himself, and tastefully incorporating these with electronic elements. His remix preserves the original message of "Syria" lowering the BPM to an even more hypnotic 104 BPMs. Satori adds middle eastern strings and chords, swapping out the original vocal for a more Saharan inspired call, and even plays delicately with some acid sounds furthering the listeners journey.  
Both songs are meant to invoke peaceful images of Syria, and conjure up positive intention on the dance floor. Sol*Selectas is very excited to present the debut song "Syria" from Unders, and the amazing remix by Satori,  two artists from the Netherlands you would do well to keep your eyes and ears open to in 2016.
