Following the release of his latest album ‘Oceanic’ (7K! Records) in February 2018, Niklas Paschburg presents a brand new track, that starts from J.S. Bach’s ‘Prelude In C Minor, BWV 847’ and takes the listener on a floating journey through the piano, synths and percussion that define his unique sound.

2018 was undoubtedly an intense year for the young German pianist, composer and producer Niklas Paschburg. It started with the release of his debut album ‘Oceanic’ via 7K! Records, followed by an intense period of live shows that took him across Europe in a single one-man-band-show and that grew in power and confidence along the way.

Having lived the last couple years in a tiny and isolated village near Nuremberg, after a year on-the-road, taking in 60 shows including concerts and sessions, Hamburg-born Niklas finally found a new base in Berlin.

Niklas supported Danish WhoMadeWho throughout their 2018 European tour and as well as sharing the stage with an eclectic range of artists including The Orb, Blonde Redhead, Vancouver Sleep Clinic and Bath. He also performed headline and festival shows in Germany, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Czech Republic and. Lithuania, developing a steadily growing live audience and a huge following on Spotify and Apple Music.

This live period culminated in his January 2019 performance at Eurosonic Festival in a crowded church. Niklas performed ‘Blooming (In C Minor)’ for the first time to widespread audience acclaim. The track represents the beginning of a fresh direction for Niklas in the run up to a new album scheduled for the end of 2019.

‘Blooming (In C Minor)’ is the studio-version of a live track, born from the desire to experiment with classical music applied to synthesizers. The piece comes from a composition of Bach (Prelude In C Minor - BWV 847), a composition that Niklas was made to play during his studies and had almost come to hate. Now it formed the basis for ‘Blooming (In C Minor)’ and was developed through a series of experiments with Bach live on stage between spring and winter 2018. 

‘Blooming (In C Minor)’ was produced and mixed by Gijs Van Klooster (who also produced his album ‘Oceanic’) at the Red House Studio in Amsterdam. The track represents a breakthrough in Niklas Paschburg’s sound. His main instrument the piano remains the focus but this new direction is more progressive, taking the listener on a journey between synthesizers, loops and his unique, soft drumming.

The seven minute long track combines Bach with both psychedelic and pop influences and includes a nod to the dancefloor. It’s a journey that shifts the boundaries of classical music and how it can be perceived.

Seductive drone and post cinematic soundscapes between ambient, indie-neoclassical music. These are the best words to describe the vibes of the new album by the Greek/Berliner composer Hior Chronik, entitled “Blind Heaven” out on November 8th via 7K! - !K7.


There is a dark and cinematic atmosphere that chases throughout the new album by the Greek composer and producer Hior Chronik, a natural sequel to "Out Of The Dust", released on 7K! in 2017. While retaining an ambient and modern-classic dimension, "Blind Heaven" goes in search of new territories to observe and interpret. Sound landscapes made of synthesizers, electronics, strings, woodwinds and above all magical touches of the piano, so minimal as they are brilliant in their being perfectly integrated into the sonic trajectories traced by the Athens-born artist who has lived in Berlin for several years.

Track after track "Blind Heaven" reveals itself by involving the listener in a particularly evocative and immersive multi-stage sound journey: Nocturne, crepuscular, foggy, the record moves in neighboring territories without delineating a precise and static form: the sound moves magmatic, it is discovered, it hides, it explodes, it shrinks and once again it frees itself to cross extremely natural and peaceful landscapes, as well as darker, industrial, apocalyptic, noisy and powerful worlds. Storm, then quiet again, but a stillness crossed by splinters and flashes clearly visible in the distance.

Created between the autumn and winter of 2019 in Berlin, mixed and mastered in Athens by John Valasis (already at the mix for the previous "Out Of The Dust"), "Blind Heaven" confirms Hior Chronik as one of the main names of the scene poised between the electronic-ambient world and that of modern classic minimalism. Proof of this are the prestigious feature of the album: from the Japanese by Erased Tapes, Masayoshi Fujita (vibraphone in "Blanket"), to the Polish pianist Hania Rani, who for a long time accompanied Hior Chronik on tour and whom we see here on the piano in "Words Are Gone", the producer and sound engineer Francesco Donadello, to the modular synths in "One Eternity At The Time", up to the New York artist Amber Ortolano, voice in "Beneath".

Niklas' new single ‘If’ was created in one of the world’s northernmost inhabited areas, the remote islands and their rapidly changing landscapes indicating the more immediate and visible effects of climate change. This ever-present theme resonates with Niklas - one which he holds close in his heart and mind. With temperatures never peaking above minus twenty degrees Celsius, sunlight hours are numbered at zero, an “inhospitable and uncomfortable” place to convalesce. The track articulates the traces which these remote environments have left in Niklas’ mind - something pressing is present in the music, its urgency roams searching for sources of energy and relief. All these impressions come from a piece of music which is both melancholic and positive, something to cradle us from anxieties, to make us both dance and run.
