After consuming the primeval energies of an entire planetoid, the gargantuan interstellar being had wandered the stars for a time. At its core churned the life forces of one trillion beings, subsumed and intertwined by the nature of its interdimensional existence. The singularity of consciousness that lay at its core was thus one of cacophony & discord, as those of strongest will that still clung to some faint inkling of individuality sought to exert their influence over all others, pushing upwards amidst the maddening din of psychic energy and drowning those beneath them in turn.

In willful ignorance of the chaos that churned within it, the great being had come to rest in the orbit of a distant star, beginning a hibernation that would last for eons as the life that raged within began to slowly seep to the surface. Thus came new life upon the surface of the beings slumbering body, born from the original images of all that which the behemoth had consumed and wrought into entirely new forms by the crucible at its core. In an age to come, the being would wake again, consuming the distant ancestors of the life that it had now born into existence. For the current age, its duty had been fulfilled - the cycle of DIVERGENCE had been carried out once more.

EATBRAIN unveils DIVERGENCE VI, the latest entry in the label’s compilation series which celebrates the diverse and devastating breadth of their artist’s sound. Packed with a no less than 38 works from the veteran leaders and fervent newcomers of the label’s monstrous horde, DIVERGENCE VI displays the power of EATBRAIN at its fullest extent.

I’ve always felt that the original “Dustup” by Noisia and The Upbeats had a strong wild west, Mexican standoff, gunslinger kind of vibe. This remix is my homage to that feeling, adding even more musicality inspired by Ennio Morricone’s classic scores. I’ve tried to bring a fresh 2025 retouch to enhance that timeless vibe, making it a special tribute to a track that resonates deeply with drum and bass fans of my generation.

Standing atop a cliffside and astride a confluence of two major rivers, the castle, which had once stood as a bastion to protect the kingdom’s heartlands, had now fallen into ruin & disrepair. Stones crumbled and tumbled from its parapets, gathering in the piles of rubble that now lay strewn about the courtyard. No human had set foot inside the place in decades, not since the failed rebellion of the castle’s last lord. Long besieged by the loyalist forces of the king, the disgraced lord had turned to dark magics to fend off the final assault, sacrificing the lives of seven of his knights for unnatural aid. Though he repulsed the assault, he too had now long since perished, consumed by the great beast that now slithered through the keep in his stead.

Thus it was that the once splendorous castle had come to be avoided by all in the kingdom. Traders refused to travel the waters beneath its gaze, for fear of tales of travelers snatched by the horror that lurked within the castle walls. Nearby villages had been abandoned by the peasantry, leaving once fertile farmland fallow and threatening to throw the kingdom’s population into famine. Now, the king stood before the castle once more, flanked by his retinue of most skilled & noble knights and a levy of some one thousand soldiers, many of whom were peasants seeking to reclaim their lost homes. Yet even for all the strength of the force he had assembled, the king wondered quietly if their might would be enough - such was the fearsome & savage prowess of the HYDRA that now called the castle home.

INSTINKT makes their EATBRAIN debut with HYDRA, rallying the label’s horde under their banner as they tell the fearsome sonic tale of the seven-headed monster across the EP’s four tracks.
