2023 may be behind us, but #HIPHOP50 has some months still to run! In celebration of the genre's 50th year, we've teamed up with London based ‘Classic Material’ to present a chronologically themed series of mixtapes celebrating the history of recorded Rap music, mixed by Chris Read. Alongside the Hip Hop series, this companion Breaks series takes our re-cap of Rap History a level deeper, this time reconstructing the classics of the Hip Hop canon from their constituent sample material. Arranged chronologically of course, this eigth volume pieces together popular Hip Hop tunes from the year of 1993, utilising only the Funk, Soul, Rock, Jazz and Disco tracks from which they were originally constructed - over 125 breaks in the mix! Artwork pays homage to Paul Winley's iconic 'Super Disco Brakes' compilation series.

This track not only introduces Aporia but also marks the return of Nomine to his label with a fresh production. Hailing from the industrial heartlands of Germany's Ruhr area, Aporia's musical evolution has taken him from Ska and Reggae to the depths of UK Bass music. "Pusher" emerges from his rich tapestry of experiences, inspired by his travels and the vibrant cultures of Eastern Europe and Turkey. This track is a reggae-inspired, bass-heavy dubstep masterpiece, featuring Aporia's own vocals, instrumentation, and production, with additional production by Nomine to infuse his trademark sound. This track is a testament to a shared vision of pushing musical boundaries.

The Spy is on a mission for the 8th Kri release and it ends with a bang. Similar to Wessel's releases on Mechatronica and Osare! Editions, his signature sound keeps evolving by melting electro, EBM and wave into a hypnotising dystopian soundtrack.

His Kri debut is named Halt and Hack and it ranges from melancholic EBM-ish slow burners to mutated wave-meets-electro anthems, rounded with a nostalgic remix by the mighty Zement operator Kluentah.

Available as limited lathe-cut vinyl and digitally on 17th of May 2024.
