The V.A. gathers both rising voices and seasoned names under one creative horizon. Andrea Zarco embodies the force of Barcelona’s new wave with an energetic cut marked by her unmistakable vocal touch, while Tucan Discos – a legend of the edit world and a fixture in countless DJ sets – unveils a progressive-tinged, break-driven gem, a glimpse into the hidden arsenal that has made him such a singular digger.

The narrative deepens with Djoan, a close friend of the label and master of hypnotic acid-house journeys, and Daniel Dez, a veteran producer who delivers an introspective, emotive track that showcases the maturity of a sound in constant evolution.

Liquid Palms’ founder Breezy S reveals a more intimate side with a slow-burning, atmospheric piece blending breaks and deep house, contrasting with the high-energy releases he’s shared this year. Closing the circle, Marthes – one of Chile’s most prolific and exciting artists of the past year – contributes a luminous 90s-inspired progressive anthem, where relentless basslines and expansive pads intertwine in a hypnotic, magnetic tension.

Carefully curated and sequenced, the compilation flows through different states of mind, rewarding both attentive listening and the dancefloor. One of the most exciting up and coming artists of recent times, Detlef makes his debut on the mighty Hot Creations with his ‘Kinky Tail EP’ featuring three jacking bombs plotting a riot on the dance floor.

Adam Beyer’s Drumcode juggernaut attracts more fans and critical plaudits with each passing year. Holding firm on its future facing ethos, techno’s number one label presents a new volume in its acclaimed A-Sides series with 20 prime tracks to signify its 20th anniversary. 

Such is the volume of quality music Adam Beyer receives throughout the course of the year, releasing all of it would be impossible. Enter the blue chip A-Sides series: a chance for the quality-obsessive label head to issue a collection of outstanding tracks that couldn’t fit in their regular EP release schedule. 

With an eye on future talent, as much as the label’s established roster of heavy-hitters, the compilation showcases the full breadth of Drumcode’s multifaceted techno sound, equal parts inspiring and functional. 

Led by the stealth techno funk of ‘Nine of You’, Beyer’s deft collaboration with Mark Reeve, the compilation takes in exciting highlights from big guns such as Alan Fitzpatrick, Dustin Zahn, Bart Skils, Pleasurekraft, Luca Agnelli, Jay Lumen, Kaiserdisco and Gary Beck. 

The rich vein of form displayed by emerging techno talent is similarly given prime position. Rising DJ/producer Boxia makes his Drumcode debut, fresh from a well-received warm up set for the crew at the hugely successful Junction 2 festival in London, while the likes of Enrico Sangiuliano, Juan Sanchez, Ian O’Donovan and Timmo also drop fire, establishing their credentials as some of the most promising talent breaking through the ranks in 2016. 

Reinforcing the global scope of the label, artists such as The Junkies from Toronto and Layton Giordani from New York, prove techno is winning a place in the heart of the new generation of artists coming out of North America.

Up next on Tiga's Turbo Recordings, Pilo and Dean Grenier team up for a five-track EP titled 'Take Form'. Coming in from Los Angeles, Pilo reached Dean Grenier's studio in Berlin for a week-long escapade that would end in with the creation of this new, raw and brilliant collection of music.

Ahead of the EP's release on April 19, the pair has handed its title track over to Mixmag for a premiere. Opening up with sly synths that clash and roll around a menacing bassline, this dark techno slammer is not for the faint of heart.

Dropping bombs is something that should be left to individuals with the necessary skills, and it is safe to say MAXIM has some expertise in this area. Starting his career as a producer & DJ 7 years ago, MAXIM has had standout appearances at Boiler Room, BCCO & Live From Earth Klub, along with his own collective First Contact. While primarily 4x4 focussed, MAXIM’s mixing style doesn’t conform to genre. His style can be often found fusing Techno and Trance with Electro, Breakbeat and UK inspired basslines. 

With that being said, MAXIM’s productions are recognised for their Trance Techno Aesthetic and have found their home on labels around the world, even as far as Colombia with his release 'Ilusion' on TnR Records and his latest Vinyl Release on Laburnūm Records. Other artists who have supported MAXIM's music are VTSS, SPF.DJ, Sara Landry, Future.666, Bailey Ibbs and more.
