"Special Request" has been a favorite of mine since I first heard his tunes a decade ago, and Equinox has been playing it on dub for many years before that. Absolute mad programming! The Equinox tunes are two of my favorite unreleased ones by him as well, classic dark crusty amen vibes, as you'd expect.
Pressed on colour vinyl and standard black vinyl.

[8205-021] Equinox + Renegade EP

Another EP I'm honored to release. "Visualise Your Desires" was a tune written by Bizzy and D-Lux, played by Bizzy on Format FM back in 1993. Musically, it has has similar vibes and samples to "Take a Deep Breath", but ends up much more melodic and relaxed. It turns out it was meant as part of a follow-up EP to "Take a Deep Breath" back then. We've tried to recreate that follow-up here by adding 3 more unreleased Bizzy/D-Lux collabs from the time: two distinct 93/94 remixes of "Take a Deep Breath" (one rolling, one rougher), and a stripped down extra dark non-amen tune called "Special to Me".

[8205-022] Bizzy B & D-Lux - Visualise Your Desires EP

8205 is back in 2022 with two records by an absolute legend of the scene - Bizzy B! One of the best, most distinctive and fiercely independent producers of the jungle/dnb era, Bizzy’s production chops are still the stuff of legend. The tracks on these EPs aim to showcase two different but equally important sides of Bizzy’s music: one more dark and experimental, the other upfront, slamming and jungle-oriented. 

Bizzy B - “Close Your Eyes” [8205-015] features three rough, raw and experimental tracks written on Amiga back in 1993, The title track, “Close Your Eyes” features some of Bizzy’s most intense and frantic breakwork ever (which is saying a lot!), and deep, dark, melodic elements that perfectly capture the vibe of the time. On the B side, “Darken My Lines” is a more straight ahead party stormer, with frantic beats, scratch samples and mental hoover twiss-ups (not a million miles from his classic tune “Twisted Mentazm”).  Finally, “Race Of Life'' finishes the record in a very different fashion. Far from a dancefloor number, “Race” is one of Bizzy’s most understated and experimental tunes of the era, taking his usual elements and transforming them into something haunting, deep and almost ethereal sounding. Very unique, and unlike almost any other tune of the era.

Complementing the rawer vibes on “Close Your Eyes” EP,  “Big People EP” [8205-016] shows Bizzy’s slightly later (94-95) jungle mastery to a fine degree. On the A side, “Big People'' is an absolute monster of a track, with earth shattering drums and bass breaking through your speakers, not letting up until the last few moments.  On the flip, “Fool Bwoy (Amen Mix)”  is classic Bizzy ragga jungle through and through: heavy amens, big bass and catchy vocals. Finally, “Fling Down the Bass” keeps the ragga vibe going, but dials the intensity back a bit, with slick cold sweat break work and a more stripped down feel.

8205-023 DJ SDR + DJ Trooper / Dopeski 

8205-023 sees longtime friends Adrian / DJ SDR (of SDR + Subsonic fame) and DJ Trooper combining forces with the mighty Dopeski.  “Bad Boy Sound” is a long lost upfront ragga jungle tune from 94-95. When SDR first reached out with it, I liked the tune a lot, but it sounded so familiar that I was convinced it had already been released (and hence wasn't appropriate for 8205).  After some investigation, it turned out "Bad Boy Sound" was only familiar because I had chanced upon the only other dubplate copy of it in existence in a secondhand collection around 10-15 years ago. Given that coincidence, it seemed a sign that we should try to get it out there for other people to hear, even though the DAT was lost decades ago. So here it is, restored lovingly off one of those two dubplates, extra crusty & undeniably banging tearout ragga amen business.


For a B side tune, we've enlisted the help of longtime jungle/dnb producer Dopeski.   Some of you may know Dopeski for his collaborations with Jakes on labels like Face Records and Wardance (serious darkness!), his solo work on IQ, or his DNB releases on his own label Chemical Warfare. With "No Time to Play", Dopeski brings something a bit different but undeniably wicked for 8205 - a raucous and bouncy 95 jump up track, full of with frantic and densely layered breaks.

8205-023 will be out Friday May 3rd at 12 noon UK time on the 8205 Bandcamp, vinyl only, limited to only 300 copies for sale. Available on clear and red splattered 10" vinyl, and extra limited standard black vinyl, with great picture sleeve art (as always) by Atelier Superplus.

This time around, it's back to 93 with four tracks of serious darkness from DJ Wax, a well known DJ/producer of the time responsible for the classic tune "Moments So Dark". "Lostwax EP" features two freshly unearthed tracks which have never been heard before in any form: the moody-yet-uplifting "808 Darkness Pt2", and the absolutely relentless "Thunderbirds Are Go". Also included is a previously unreleased remix of a track off DJ Wax's Darkwax EP, here titled "Not For Sale".  Finally, for those without the original,  a freshly remastered version of “Moments So Dark” is included, as played back in the day by Grooverider, Ray Keith, DJ Ratty, Simon Bassline Smith, and many more hc/jungle dons.

I’m happy to announce 8205’s tenth release, Equinox -  “Early Works 93-94 (The Demos)” LP.

As the title indicates, these 8 tunes are some of the earliest that Equinox (aka Marlon Sterling) produced. They were written back when Marlon was just 15-16 years old, around the time of his first release, the “Brain Records Crew EP”.  Unlike that EP, which was made in collaboration with Bizzy B, these tunes were all written by Marlon in his bedroom using only an Amiga… pure 8-bit business! 

Big big thanks to Marlon entrusting me to do this release, it’s an honour to get to release these early tunes.  

“Early Works 93-94 (The Demos)” will be released on limited edition doublepack gatefold vinyl,  available for preorder on August 23rd 2019, exclusively through the 8205 Bandcamp.

Mega City 2-  Spice

Well known for their back-in-the-day classic "Darker Side of Evil", "Spice" is a killer slice of 94 jungle with choppy timestretched breaks and classic "Dune" samples. Originally lost to the ages (no DATS exist), a dubplate was discovered in 2012 in a hole in a wall behind a kitchen sink, where it had sat out of its sleeve on top of a pile of other dubs for 18 years. Because of those conditions, the plate was in terrible shape, crackly to the point of being unsalvageable. Despite this fact, the tune itself was a personal favorite at the time (posted on blog to the oldskool), and was something I'd hoped to release if a better quality copy ever turned up. 

Fast forward to 2016: A second copy of "Spice" did show up, this time stashed in someone's china cabinet (“wrong type of ‘plate’...”). This copy was in much better shape, almost unplayed. Both dubs were shipped to a UK specialist who spent time restoring them, before sending them to another specialist to continue the work. In the end, the difference is like night and day: "Spice" sounds dynamic and fresh with nary a click, crackle or pop.  On the flip, "Ruffneck Murderer" is almost as clean - a rude little number with warp bass, toasting and "Goodfellas" samples. 

After all this time, and all the work from multiple restoration specialists, we're proud to finally bring you these two long lost Mega City 2 tunes. 


“Spice” will be released June 5th at 6pm UK time, 1pm EST. on the 8205 Bandcamp on limited vinyl (10" pressed on 12" with a blank outer ring) and digital. In keeping with the Dune theme, the vinyl pressing is split between marbled orange ("melange") and marbled blue ("eyes of ibad"). There’s also a small number of black vinyl copies available, strictly for the rarity hunters and people who like to complain about coloured vinyl on the internet. 

Lastly, this release is a benefit release - 100% of all profits are being split between the artist and a charity they chose at the start of the project nearly a year ago

[8205 - 011] Mega City 2 - Spice

For release number fourteen, 8205 Recordings welcomes Love Dove Jay to the label. Fans of classic darkside/jungle will no doubt be familiar with his work, as Jay released 8 killer records on a number of labels between 1993 and 1995, played at the time by DJs like Ratty, Easygroove & Donovan Badboy Smith.  

On this release, Jay has dug up two previously unheard & unreleased darkside tracks he recorded back in 1993.  Both “Dark Loving” and “Sonic Man” are prototypical examples of the darkside sound of that era: chopped amens, stompy backing beats, dark synths, classic vocal samples, and huge timestretched hoover breakdowns.
