Gareth Cole is the ambitious Brit who has been carving a name for himself as a purveyor of fine house and techno both as a producer and DJ. 

Here he signs up to Steve Bug’s Sublease Music for three slick and impactful slices of deep, techy house. First up is Signal, a low-slung groover with hypnoic keys, and a thick, rounded bottom end driving the track forward. 

On Courage, the energy is amped somewhat, with plenty of space thanks to the dubby, minimal production. 

Gareth notes “I was very inspired by music and DJ sets from Guy J - there is this sort of hypnotic groove which locks you into the vibe and music. I designed a really nice lead stab on Sylenth which is my go-to synth and it repeats during the majority of the tune and then other elements play around it to keep it interesting”. 

The final track is On The Edge, delving deep into Cole’s roots in techno - slowly building on the groove with extra elements to create a hypnotic, techy atmosphere sure to set dancefloors alight this summer.

Since its debut in 2017, Damian Lazarus’ annual ‘SPIRITS’ series on Crosstown Rebels has been a beacon for breakthrough artists, setting the label’s agenda for the year ahead. The sixth instalment in February is another meticulously curated lineup with ‘SPIRITS VI’ featuring a blend of new and recognisable talents, including Lauren Lane, Cristina Lazic, Iñigo Vontier, AJ Christou and many more.

London-based talent Cameron Jack kicks off what looks set to be a breakout year with ‘The Vision’, a bubbly and tropical cut with cosmic synths and loose, jumbled rhythms. Chris Bowl then brings his emotional style to the deep, rolling beats and fresh melodies of ‘Silent Plain’, while NY-born, LA-based house tastemaker Lauren Lane layers in smoky pads and tender whispers to her sublime deep house cut, ‘Fair Game.’ Next, German talent and Degree Records head Marc Lenz brings darker vibes to his track ‘People Are People’, while Rebellion artist Cristina Lazic and previous Lazarus collaborator Leia Contois combine for the alluring vocal soul and gritty minimal drums of ‘So Deep’.

Mexican Iñigo Vontier is a pioneer in his homeland after crafting a global reputation, and his twisted synths, shiny textures and steely drums on ‘That Trippy Sound’ prove why as they work you into a trance. Next is influential Manchester-based DJ/producer AJ Christou, who has released on the likes of Hot Creations and Cuttin’ Headz. His track ‘Back & Forth’ brings an infectious groove with plenty of flair and catchy drum funk, before TMPLE shuts things down with the deft, airy grooves and floating bass of ‘The Girl In The Room’, complete with its tender male vocals.

At the forefront of electronic innovation, Crosstown Rebels stands as a pivotal platform and record label, reflecting the genre’s diversity and housing an impressive roster that includes renowned artists and household names like Art Department, Maceo Plex, and Jamie Jones. With sub-labels Rebellion and Secret Teachings in tow, the imprint consistently and continuously expands its musical canvas, creating an immersive landscape for leading and emerging talents to thrive.

We’re proud to present the fifth release on flurt — Dark Forest EP [FLRT005] — a four-track collection from Russian producer Milost Na Kurorte with a tight, driving rework from flurt artist Roux. 

The originals carry an eerie, stripped-back energy—Milost’s signature sound on full display through sparse rhythms, evolving pads, and deep, textural undercurrents. Each track sits in that liminal space between stillness and motion, inviting listeners to lean into the subtle shifts.

Roux’s reinterpretation of Alchemy’s Room brings a distinct contrast—rolling low-end pressure, sharp percussion, and tightly wound grooves. It’s a punchy, hypnotic take that extends the EP’s atmosphere into a more physical space.

Continuing our focus on forward-thinking minimal, Dark Forest EP adds a new shade to the flurt catalogue—rooted in mood, intention, and detail.

Oliver is well known for his great output on his very own imprint SOSO and gained much respect with his Nubreed album on Global Underground end of 2017.
