Hailing from the bustling crossroads of Agadez, Niger, Etran de L’Aïr is one of the longest running desert blues outfits to electrify the arid landscape. Launched in 1995, they have been one of the region’s most popular hires for marriage celebrations. Forget western stereoypes of schlocky wedding bands. This circuit is the lifeblood of Sahelian musicians and a space where sound directly channels celebratory energy. This responsive nimbleness resounds throughout Etran de L’Aïr’s debut record, No. 1. Coming May 1st on Sahel Sounds, the album was recorded under the wide sky outside Etran de L’Aïr’s Agadez compound and you can hear joyfully ululating neighbors calling back to the supercharged musicians. Frosty premiered “Tamiditine” on Open End, his weekly Red Bull Radio voyage around the globe.

"Take Five" is a jazz piece composed by Paul Desmond and performed by The Dave Brubeck Quartet on their 1959 album Time Out. Recorded at Columbia Records' 30th Street Studio in New York City on July 1, 1959,[1] fully two years later it became an unlikely one-hit wonder and the best-selling jazz single of all time.[2] Written in the key of E-flat minor, it is famous for its distinctive two-chord[3] piano vamp; catchy blues-scale saxophone melody; imaginative, jolting drum solo;[4] and use of the unusual quintuple (5/4) time, from which its name is derived.[5] It was first played by the Quartet to a live audience at the Village Gate nightclub in New York City in 1959.
