This is a collection of songs from the Wii U game "Splatoon," only I've turned them into 8-bit tunes!  This is what they would sound like on a retro game console.

I limit myself to 5 tracks (number of sounds that can be playing at once).  I do this because the NES and Gameboy were only capable of 4, though I allowed myself one more for some flexibility, since I'm working with such large-scale tunes.

This is what this song would sound like if it was played on the NES!  Maybe!  This is my 8-bit version of one of the songs from the single-player mode in Splatoon.

This was made with 5 tracks, 1 with percussion, and 4 melodic, each with a different tone.  No filters, no extra effects, just the 8-bit sounds.  Notice how I alternate between all four tones when the Octarian's theme plays!

This is one of my favorite songs from the online mode in Splatoon.  It was a lot of fun recreating that garage band feel.

Just in time for Splatfest, here is the song that the famous Squid Sisters play during their concert in Inkopolis!  This is my 8-bit rendition.  I now figured out how to do stereo!  Callie's on the left, Marie's on the right.

CITY OF COLOR - 8-bit Splatoon

My next mix is the single-player level where you face the Octolings, though this time I did something a little bit different!  This tune has two different versions: the normal version, and the souped-up version that plays whenever you're near an Octoling.  It's one of those interactive video game tracks, like Dire Dire Docks from Super Mario 64.  For this, I've decided to make the song progressive by looping it 4 times, and gradually add parts to it each time!  Each time the song loops, you'll find that it sounds very different.  About half-way through, you can start to hear the Octolings sing!

Now for a song by the Chirpy Chips! This is my 8-bit version of "Shellfie," found in the online mode of Splatoon.

SHELLFIE - 8-bit Splatoon

Featuring the new band Hightide Era, from the Wii U game "Splatoon."  It's a band with a sound that reminds me a little bit of Jazz Fusion, so that's why I've named it Squid Fusion!  I felt like this song needed to go somewhere, so I added a solo section toward the end.  I hope I didn't get too carried away! 

Sorry that it's been a while (5 weeks, in fact).  Believe it or not, these mixes take a whole lot of time, and now that school has started, I've had to take a little break from this.  I won't be posting sound files quite as often as I did in the summer.
