D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music opens the spring season by welcoming Ruben Karapetyan back to the label for his debut single. Following a ten-year hiatus, the Armenian-born, USA-based artist made a triumphant return to electronic music in 2020 with a series of the releases via Mango Alley, Movement Recordings and Univak. On the strength of his fresh, progressive sound Ruben quickly earned praise from the genre's trendsetters Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while also becoming a regular in Beatport's competitive sales charts. Having made his first appearance on SLC-6 Music last year with a remix of K Loveski's 'Renzzo', the Los Angeles resident now returns to the label for his first single entitled 'Meteorite', alongside a remix from Jerome Isma-Ae. The Original Mix finds Ruben operating at the peak of his creative powers and aiming squarely for the dance floor. Elasticated synths, delicate chord stabs, percolating effects layers, charged beats and mountainous basslines form the solid structure of the track. An emotive break, complete with thought-provoking vocal samples, puts your senses on high for an exhilarating finale.

Making his label debut, and providing the lone interpretation, is progressive music icon Jerome Isma-Ae. Having remixed the likes of Faithless, Hybrid, Paul Van Dyk and Way Out West, the German artist now overhauls Ruben's 'Meteorite' in fine fashion. Beginning with a subdued pulse, Jerome masterfully builds the energy into an epic main-room stormer. Multi-dimensional stabs, flickering percussive arrangements and deconstructed vocals steal the air, while thunderous grooves and misty tension-filled atmospheres keep attention firmly locked on the dance floor.

We welcome back AKIVA this time with his Irreversible EP and alongside the originals we bring 3 x Heavyweights of the scene on remix duties, Hernan Cattaneo and Martin Garcia - (TWO Remixes) and Hobin Rude creating an outstanding release.

AKIVA's original of Irreversible kicks things off, this is a slightly dark groove with melodic elements throughout that keep things moving and interesting, this is a great opener that sets things up for Hobin.

Hobin takes over with his remix which takes things up a notch with a big Progressive grinder sure to get any dancefloor moving, sure to be found in many setlists.

We then move back with the second original from AKIVA with The Wait, Again another beautifully put together production taking you on a bit of deeper rolling Proggy number a certain to fit in all sets be it early, mid or late.

What comes up next are two remixes from the legendary Hernan Cattaneo and Martin Garcia, The guys take the original and give it a darker, more tech sound whilst maintaining many of the original elements, it feels like something to get your feet moving within those amazing underground dark venues, we think you will like it.

And lastly the guys treat us to a Breaks remix, again maintaining the more tech sounds of their 4/4 remix but breaking it down for us in a way that we all love at Pro B.

This EP is yet another we are so proud to release, and provides something for every dancefloor, every time within the day, afternoon or night.

'The second remix sees the return of Sylvain Guiraud under his Clawz SG moniker. A Steyeyoke resident with over 150 production credits on the Soul Button led label, the French artist has created quite a stir on Proton Music with his 2019 "Domuyo" and 2021 "Urania" EPs that have included remixes from such prominent artists as Jonas Saalbach and Robert Babicz. Now returning to Proton with a debut remix, the Clawz SG interpretation of "Injected with a Serum" is a glorious melodic techno infused track that replaces the broken beat rhythm with a ticking four-to-the-floor powerhouse. A sublime growling bassline gradually emerges, built upon Monro's closing section, as a mesmerising arpeggio then provides the perfect juxtaposition. A bassline mirrored leads adds further weight in the second half to a spectacular conclusion.'
