Simultaneously with the announcement of our 15th Watergate-Compilation, we are also proud to present the number 15 of our vinyl series.

The man behind the black wax is Mathias Kaden, whose exclusive track now finds its new home in our label catalogue - with "Fin" he literally marked the end of his compilation which was released in this year's summer. The track warms up with an aesthetically-stumbling beat pattern, gathers speed attended by rattling hi-hats and suddenly turns into a smooth piano-break. After this grace period the allround-tool unfolds its full force and tramps down on the dancefloor.

No less a figure than Josh Wink contributed a remix to this bomb. The Ovum-Records boss interpreted "Fin" in his habitual freethinker-attitude as a hypnotic-house track in a totally new context. Dopey bleeps wriggle through the drums and leave woozy traces in the audiences' heads.

"Fin" appears on January 20 on vinyl & digital. The digital EP also contains the exclusive tracks from Rodriguez Jr. and Christian Burkhardt from Mathias Kaden's Watergate 14 compilation.

Welcome back, old friend! It's been quite a while since Valencia-based producer Sylvain Soulier, better known as Darlyn Vlys first appeared on the Upon You Sweet & Sour Series back in 2010 and a lot has happened since then. Now, backed by releases on well respected labels like Sincopat, Terminal M and many others, it's time for Darlyn Vlys to make a big return, serving a massive TechHouse anthem for 2016. The original version of „Colours“ fuses big room TechHouse, a slightly proggy feel and ever morphing Acid references to a great, spiralling and well-enthralling effect, building up nicely before Forrest serves a killer vocal performance that is yet simple, powerful and fascinating, an anthemic array of words that a new generation of punters will never forget once they've heard them on a large rig. Instant classic detected. Our man Ruede Hagelstein strips down things a little in his remix, focusing on the techier, cleaner and more scientific side of the TechHouse spectrum and coming up with a hypnotizing minimalist Acid version backed by an effective two tone, Intelligent Techno-resembling bass and nice floating synth arrangements to be loved by tech purists for a reason. Finally the young German producer Tim Engelhardt is going deep with his version, focusing on gooey, all embracing sawtooth bass beauty and a crystalline, melancholia-inducing motif layered on top of decent beat foundation gravitating towards uptempo realms for the small hours.

Being no stranger to producing big tracks that have landed him on respected labels like Subjekt, Connaisseur and Save Us, and loving his work on mammoth remixes Snowflake and Wasted last year, continuing deeper into this bliss, UK based Kris Davis takes the helm to deliver his trademark sound, and crafted straight from the studio are freshly effervescent and colourful tracks to indulge upon for his debut with Crossfrontier Audio... the Interlude EP.

Transcending time and place with his emotionally charged productions, both clever in their concoctions, we get two original works on the EP - Interlude and China, from analog symphonies to pacing rhythm, each has a unique path carved out for itself, whether it’s the sophisticated and driven high of Interlude, or the heavy hypnotic euphoria that blitzes its way through China, the output on these from the dance-floor to the airwaves has been noteworthy.

To celebrate Kris Davis’s debut on Crossfrontier Audio, two of the label’s much loved staples have adapted the originals. Reacting to the energy, and pouring in his own essence, label boss Marc Poppcke’s remix of Interlude adds a drop of tentative darkness and depth to an already dangerous killer. While ricocheting through China with a melodious touch, Yoram gives us a lightshow for the synapses... firing on all cylinders.

Rho Persei is a star in the northern constellation of Perseus. A key figure in Greek mythology, Perseus blazed a trail across the sky in his quest to defeat the Gorgons...a tale now reprised here, in Chapter 15.

Our latest story in sound casts Sezer Uysal in centre stage. Artists across the creative realm frequently lament the difficulty of putting thoughts onto paper. In electronic dance music, it’s the producers whose quest is to battle the hardships of making the creativity of mind materialize on a computer screen.

For Sezer Uysal, finding the right touch is more instinctual. His future written in the stars, he has been a regular on Suara, Hope and Manual Recordings. More great things lie in wait with the Rho Persei EP, for which he is joined by another hero of underground house music: Luis Leon (Blankhaus, Subjekt). 

The EP’s opener, Rho Persei, is a pulsating track. Blending disco guitar licks and haunting ambiences, it is built on a killer bass hook which opens out into synth work of mythic proportions.

The odyssey continues as Sezer Uysal embarks on Bitter Struggle. Here, a chugging house groove built around swelling synth stabs is the order of the day. Undulating melodies unfurl, Medusa-like, masterfully executed.

The third act comes with Space Egg, as we take to the skies. Sure enough, the artist never loses his head. Warm atmospheres abound in a driving piece rich in Sezer’s signature melodies. 

Luis Leon’s Cosmic Edition of Space Egg brings things to a close. A real treat, this refined house cut adds a vocal sample and finishes the story with a slab of beguiling and futuristic sounds. In all senses, a stone cold killer.

„Nachdem ich zwei Alben veröffentlicht hatte“, sagt @kalipo-1, „wollte ich zur Abwechslung mal an einer EP arbeiten, die mehr auf die Clubs zielt.“ Das tat Jakob Häglsperger, so sein bürgerlicher Name, auch – und zwar mit der „Charlie“ EP, die Mitte November 2016 erscheinen soll. „Somit war das Format klar und die Titelanzahl begrenzt, was die Trackauswahl aber nicht vereinfachte.“ Der gebürtige Bayer saß vor fast 40 mehr oder weniger fertigen Tracks und war erstmal damit überfordert, welche Werke überhaupt relevant dafür sind. It seems as if 15 years have quickly flown by since we first opened our doors at the base of the famous Oberbaumbrücke joining Berlin’s Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain districts. With countless long nights into majestic mornings and open airs in our beloved city to showcases spanning the globe, Watergate has grown to include a booking agency and a record label pushing the sounds of our mainstay artists and some of the most revered acts in the scene. To celebrate our journey over the last decade and a half we have put together a special anniversary release of 25 new, exclusive and formerly unreleased tracks to be released as a 2x CD set with our traditional Watergate artwork as well as a special collector's edition box set as a 5x vinyl, 2x CD package including a commemorative art print, two free entries to the club itself and the very special photo book ‘Sound Travels’ by Linus Dessecker which features photos and interviews of artists that played at Watergate when they arrived or left Berlin, all wrapped up in a sleek minimalistic package entitled “WATERGATE XV”.
