The Nostos EP (Part 1), debut release from England native Emseatee, real name Leigh Redding, borrows from Greek mythology and the origins of the word nostalgia. The word nostalgia is derived from the Greek compounds 'Nostos' meaning homecoming and 'algos' translating as pain. 

In conjunction with Homer's Odyssey the concept of Nostos portrays a hero returning home by sea. Temptation and reflection play a vital role in the ideas behind the 4 works within the Ep. The term Nostos best describes the journeys and afflictions that have come to be Four, Going, Heath and Kite. The freezing and references for memories gone by. Each track is titled as a memory, as a standalone moment or collective period. 

Emseatee’s great depth of musical influences from the Radio Head, Vessels, Apex Twin, Nils Frahm, Nathan Fake and the likes can be felt on these organic yet compelling musical explorations. All different in form and nature each track was started by either a trigger sound or emotive on which the memory was rebuilt. Constantly pursuing the limitations of sound Emseatee invites you to explore these foundations within The Nostos EP (Part 1). 

Holding us over until Emseatee’s next outing on 8KO records, the artist and label pairing reflects the young imprint appreciation of all things electronic and a forecast of more positive things to come from the imprint.

Coming from a dub and big beats background, he managed to find his way into the deeper end of house through his involvement in art projects around his native city of Hamburg.
Dealing with the sequential stimulation of human emotions has always fascinated Echoel and these observations created an emotional contrast, pairing simplistic vocal hooks with intoxicating synth waves in this 4 track EP.

'Emseatee’s The Nostos Ep – Part II follows on from part I released in late 2015. Focusing on the same subject of nostalgia and using the concept of memory to craft his experimental electronic creations Emseatee has strived to create a contrasting Ep to the first.
Where the Nostos Ep Part I delved into the dreamier more atmospheric and ambient territory associated with the likes of longing and drifting, Part II has cut to the edgier and harsh elements that this same subject can materialise. 
Using a different pallet in terms of sounds and environments, Emseatee has strived to create a collection of tracks that devote their attention to the idea of an awakening to compliment the first Ep’s message of subsiding.'
