Stress has been dubbed as the ​Health Epidemic of the 21st Century by the World Health Organization. As a Leadership Trainer at a multinational pharmaceutical, I first developed a program to address this epidemic eight years ago. I called it ‘De-stress & Revitalize Your Soul.

The right kind of stress, also known as positive stress/eustress, can be beneficial as it can challenge and motivate us. However, it is usually bad stress/distress that we fall victim to. As debilitating as it may sound, the good news is that there are many simple ways through which we can minimize the negative impact of stress. We all experience a feeling of inadequacy regarding our self-worth and whether or not we are qualified enough to achieve something, especially when we are pushed outside our comfort zone or doing something for the first time. Some people feel the same despite repeated external evidence of competence. This fear or feeling is called Impostor Syndrome.

Coaching is a powerful tool that enables a person to find self-discovered solutions to a number of challenges, one of which includes dealing with negative relationships, be it involving friends, family or even coworkers. In difficult situations, people often find themselves being unable to think clearly and they instead rely on others to seek advice and solicit opinions. Unless you consult a qualified coach who can help you deal with the problem effectively, most others will, unfortunately, worsen the situation by passing on their own negativity to you.

What if there was a way to help self-coach yourself out of a negative situation or relationship? Keeping that in mind, I have compiled a list of questions that can help you in looking at negative situations/relationships differently. The questions have been designed to help you identify holes in your thinking. As soon as you find yourself encountering a negative relationship, ask yourself the following questions....

ESTIMATION- UNDERSTAND YOUR MEASURE OF GRACE (GREATEST POTENTIAL)- the amount of ability and maximum power that has been divinely invested in you.  Your greatest reach or limit (local, regional, national, or international

VISUALIZATION- see yourself operating at the level and becoming that great person.  Picture yourself achieving your goals.  Despite where you are create a mental picture of where you want to go and what you can become if you render the necessary efforts because  in actuality the current place is an illusion and your place of destiny is your reality. You just have to travel to get there.   . 

ORGANIZATION- Plan. Always have goals, tasks, and deadlines.  Make sure to be flexible in the event you must adjust your plan to
accommodate unforeseen obstacles and circumstances which may arise.

 ACTIVATION- Just do it. This is where the rubber meets the role.
 Don't allow the fear of failure and the fear of rejection hinder you.
 Merely taking action automatically makes you a success because you can
 not control the results of any undertaking.  Be satisfied with the
 fact you did your part.  This alone makes you a success.

Publicly trashing ideas with the intention to belittle others, scoffing and dismissing any suggestions or proposals made in meetings, openly making snide remarks and frequently denouncing fellow team members at work; these are some of the common characteristics that categorize bullies at work.


American bullying experts Drs. Gary and Ruth Namie ​define bullying as a “Repeated, health-harming mistreatment of a person by one or more workers that takes the form of verbal abuse; conduct or behaviors that are threatening, intimidating, or humiliating; sabotage that prevents work from getting done; or some combination of the three.”


The bully aims to assault the dignity, trustworthiness, competence, and self-worth of the target to derive personal gains or sadistic satisfaction, often leaving the target feeling responsible, guilty, isolated and confused.

So what can we do to stop these baddies in their tracks?

Carol Stewart is an Executive, Career and Business Coach, Speaker and Writer. However, when these beliefs turn into toxic thought traps that sabotage your progress, they need to be addressed promptly. The good news is that with a little practice and discipline, you can avoid succumbing to these mind-chattering gremlins and stop them right in their tracks!

In this podcast, you will learn questioning techniques that can help you to distance yourself from debilitating thoughts and allow you to view situations more objectively. Decide on a course of internal action. How do you want to think? How do you want to feel? What type of person do you want to be? Align your next, simple action with the answers to these questions. I wish to be calm, so I’ll focus on this one thing right now. I wish to be strong, so I’ll acknowledge my fear and match it with courage. I wish to be balanced, so I’ll say no to taking on more. Focus on your wish for
yourself, it’s the only thing you can definitely do something about.

Recently featured on Entrepreneur.com, Michael Nova has developed a proven track record of overseeing multiple businesses & creative projects simultaneously, both as a creative artist and entrepreneur.  
As president of Nova Music Productions, Inc., Michael was featured in The New York Times as a pioneer in offering multiple services to independent artists in the music industry.
