The uplifting 'Rote Nacht' (A1) reveals the contrasting energy between the tumultuous city and the silent mountain, before gently giving way to the feelings of the exotic seascape in 'Essaouira' (A2). Delicately, yet suprising as ever, Acid Pauli rearranges the warm drums in 'Essaouira' (B1) to let your spirit rest in an imagined, green oasis, before it’s completely taken away by the lightness of the seabirds in 'Taghazout' (B2).

D1 Günther Lause - Spiralkiemer

Championed by the likes of Seth Troxler, Guy Gerber and Tiga, the former Footprintz member turned solo star has set his musical sights on the incense-filled Multi Culti chill-out room.

Following recent releases on Visionquest, Supplement Facts, Life & Death, and Turbo, Clarian continues a run of musically diverse, emotionally resonant songs with this three track EP. Ma Shiva stands out immediately in every way: it’s a mid-tempo pop ballad that takes as its refrain one of the most popular Hindu mantras. It’s a total one-off that has a certain familiarity to it without actually sounding quite like anything specific… except, oddly enough, maybe a dash of 80s-era Leonard Cohen in the phrasing of the verses. Open Your Eyes takes the tempo down even lower, into laid-back Talking Heads territory. Taking on such a wide range is an impressive feat, a show of great confidence from the young Montreal-based producer. It’s no wonder he’s been courted by some of the biggest names in the house scene as both a writer and producer. Rounding off these two languid anthems is Dystopia, a dragon-stick-juggling bazaar-ride of inner-exoticism. Progressive - even for progressive!

In remix support are the always-awesome Invisible Conga People, long overdue to release more original music. For the time being we’ll have to content ourselves with this epic, meandering acid dub rework of the title track.

Mit der EP “Stay” begeben sich 959er & Nomi Solo auf ein akustisches Abenteuer, inspiriert von World Music, Chill Out und Down Tempo. Das Ergebnis ist Dümpeltechno vom Feinsten! 

Der Opening-Track “Stay” wird von einem wabernden Synthie getragen, der mitreißt, ohne dick aufzutragen. Seine technoide Abstammung bemerkt man spätestens durch das Einsetzen der Kickdrum. In der Mitte des Tracks kommt Gänsehautstimmung auf, verursacht durch ein harmonisches Flöten-Thema und dem immer wiederkehrenden Vocal. Abgerundet wird das Stück mit fein eingesetzten Percussions und einem dezenten Summen.

“Am Morgen nach einer durchtanzten Nacht” ist der Auftakt zum zweiten Titel der EP. “Carong” lädt ein zu einer Reise, begleitet von einer klaren Orgel und deepem Synthie-Sound. Sie führt auf einem langen Bogen zum eigentlichen Thema, welches durch sein ausgewogenes Gitarrenspiel besticht. Der Einsatz von traditionellen Shakern und die eingängige Bassline machen den Sound rund und schaffen eine Atmosphäre, die “wieder, und immer wieder” zum Träumen verleitet.

“Listen” wählt eine schnellere Gangart, die das Stück absolut clubtauglich macht. Es schöpft Kraft aus der treibenden Bassline und dem orchestral anmutenden Synthie. Der rollende Charakter wird durch das Zusammenspiel gezielter Rhythmuselemente verstärkt. Nicht zuletzt die dynamischen Steeldrums verleihen dem Stück seinen ganz eigenen Charakter. 

“Jenny” ist das sphärische Schlusswort der EP. Durch das Wechselspiel der langgezogenen Keys und der Gitarrenriffs geraten, mit Hilfe von viel Delay, die Gedanken ins Schweifen. Wieder sind es die präzise inszenierten Percussions, die den Titel einmalig machen. Der Track kommt ohne richtige Bassline aus, das schafft Raum und durch den melancholischen Vocal wandern die Gedanken weiter und weiter.

Heading from Oslo straight to the breakfast club Crussen wakes anybody with his heavy trumpet and eponymous tune ‘Breakfast in the Hut‘ that is part of
Underyourskin‘s latest four tracker by the Norwegian. Grooving on a downtempo pace delightfully playing with chimes that alternate and merge with different synth patterns Crussen creates the cereals for a strong day and night. Viken Arman abstracts the original synths and raises the beats per minute to recreate a deepish and summerish remix anthem with a subtile melancholy. The EPs second and highly anticipated track ‘The Lambert Interpretation‘ is a melodical masterpiece combining piano and guitar elements smoothly before sweeping one into different spheres. Crussen‘s reinterpretation of the original is enriched with a choir like vocal that pours down all the emotions on the dance floor and hunts one throughout the night.

Contrary to the songs name, this interpretation of a traditional Afro-Brasilian candomble song, appears to be forged from mythical lost amazonian gold. Recorded in Sao Paulo with an allstar cast of Arteria FM (on vocal duties), Salvador Araguaya (caressing the Viola Caipira) & Spaniol (stroking the Baixo), steered by Nicola's production prowess, this quartet delivers a melodic enhancement to the summer sun. As if the sun wasn't shining bright enough already, the single comes backed by a remarkable remixer ensemble procured from their duties as fellow sun-worshippers : Xique-Xique's Dragonfruit Mix is a wondrous journey full of surprising leaps and bounds, alternating between hypnotic electronics and organic song structure. Saving the best 'til last he raises the energy whilst keep the beats low and the vibes ecstatic. HIT ! Crussen's creamy cocodub raises the energy whilst concentrating on a dubbed out groove, (that) classic Crussen bassline and carefully sliced & re-appropriated vocals. Finally in-house poster-boy Carrot Green's Granola mix combines disco, deep grainy bassines, juicy bells and signature flourishes into a bowl of magical mind-whirling hip-spinning edible sex.
