After a busy summer on the road, Silverlining launches Forgotten Chorus, a new imprint for deep, hypnotic and abstract body music. The new label will explore a more abstract approach compared to Silverlining’s existing imprints, Silverlining Dubs and Neotropiq, embracing the deep and hypnotic realms of techno, electro, and broken beat, while amalgamating synthetic and organic textures.

Silverlining describes how the idea for Forgotten Chorus emerged from an experience of hearing distant, muffled sounds at a festival that inspired him to mentally fill in the gaps and reimagine what he couldn’t fully hear. 

“I woke up to this somewhat smudged, distant sound of one of the stages kicking back in. Through the woods, I could hear a single kick drum pulsing—like nature’s own audio filter—blended with this atonal, intermittent rumbling bassline. Even though I couldn’t hear the higher frequencies or tell exactly where I was in the groove, it just sounded magnificent. I just went along with it, filling in the gaps in my head. It was during this moment that I realised that discarded sound—much like cultural objects, spaces, and materials—can be reclaimed, reimagined, and celebrated.

“Three weeks later,” he continues, “I wrote a track in my studio that almost exactly matched what I had imagined in my festival tent. 

“And by sound," he adds, "I don't only mean the sonic, but the narratives often deemed cacophonous in the worldviews by which we've been programmed since birth.”

Forgotten Chorus is, therefore, an invitation to embrace the unfamiliar other and tune into the echoes of lost voices and abandoned frequencies.

In a world where we perpetually chase the sweet spot—be that in front of a speaker stack or the pursuit of a perfectly tuned lifestyle—we often overlook the beauty of discarded, derelict, ‘also-ran’ sound that falls by the wayside.

The label’s debut release will come from Silverlining himself, a three-tracker of higher-tempo ethereal techno outings as he effortlessly shifts into a pacier, and more raw territory. This newly launched imprint highlights Silverlining’s unwavering passion as a producer and DJ, fascinated by new sounds, and never shying away from challenging himself musically.

Machine Cult — the Amsterdam-based electronic platform run by Déandrah and Garçon Taupe — returns with the Edition Four release party at OT301 on 7 November.

The new V.A. compilation features tracks from Garçon Taupe, Bertram, 2:29, Beau Wanzer, Déandrah, and Masha Wordpress. At the launch, all contributing artists will play DJ sets, with Déandrah providing live visuals throughout the night.

Expect an evening of potent electronics and immersive visuals, celebrating the forefront of the underground.
